| Well I mean soldier, I just figured they might call the class commando or whatever. |

| Its not what they call the classes, but the function of the class. If the are soldier or commando are the same | |

| We had good update last week so this one will be weak.... I don't think they start revealing classes until and few months before the release | |

| I agree that the likelihood of tomorrow's update being anywhere near as good as the last one is slim. I'd say unless Bioware have hired a dedicated update-make-good-er (that's an official job title) we're in for a few weeks of rubbish.
If they do pull a miracle out of their hat and treat us to another class reveal I've got my fingers crossed for Smuggler. It could be that the Smuggler class is the Republic's version of the Bounty Hunter (I recon they could both fall under the 'Rogue' heading, possibly... maybe...), so they could be the Bounty Hunter mirror class which is the reveal I'd expect them to make. |

| I thought there wasn't any class balancing or mirroring? I'm not sure where i read that though, if there is a smuggler class I expect it'll be completly diferent gameply wise to the BH class. One thing I'm looking forward to is elaborating on the mssion structure, they said in the BH blog that there won't be any faction crossover missions, I guess this is to make replayability more fun and unique, but does that also include classes within a faction as well? | |

You're 100% right, Priory. Sean Whoseewhatsit said it in the Bounty Hunter blog. I don't think smuggler would be a mirror in any way besides in theory. They'll be much less combat based and much more geared to skills and things that the Republic could use without feeling guilty. But it doesn't matter to me when they announce it, they wrote about smugglers in the timeline (Run of the Mandalorian Blockade circa maybe 13 BTC?), they're going to put them in the game. I may have missed a point. Pause for editing. Right, I agree Red and Nord and whoever else suggested it, they won't post anything fun. I just like to post my hopes every week. :tears:

| Well maybe I was clutching at straws and not too serious about Smugglers being Bounty Hunters' mirror class. But what's all this talk about no class balancing or mirroring? I may be wrong, but I don't think I've read any statement from Bioware saying they weren’t doing this. Indeed, I can't see any combat within a game being even possible without careful balancing between different units. And faction games would be very difficult to get right without mirrored classes/unit types. They may dress it up but essentially the 'Empire Mercenary' will be the same as the 'Republic Soldier' (or whatever they call the tanks). Bioware have though, I agree, said that no story content would ever cross classes/factions. And I wouldn't be so sure about how heavily combat orientated a Bounty Hunter is going to be... - Daniel Erickson, Principal Lead Writer wrote:
- Whatever their story, they specialize in the hunt, the small scale assault, the personal touch. You don’t call the Bounty Hunter when you need to take out an army...
At the heart of the Bounty Hunter story is the hunt itself... Though combat (not always) comes at the end of a hunt, to me it seems possible the Bounty Hunter will specialise in information gathering and hunting/tracking skills with additional specialisations in exotic one-on-one weaponry not available to other classes. More a 'Ranger' class than a combat based 'Fighter' class. That's my take on it anyway. All theories, all speculation. |

| Yep, pretty cool. Going to come up with a Trooper character now. Definitely not going to be my favorite class, I don't think, from what I've read they sound kind of ordinary. They do have some cool looking battle techniques if you watch those videos. I'm sure they're going to be BA in their own right. Good update all in all.

El Linko Great link Arte. That was the most propper info from Bioware to date. Hints on game mechanics and where the class fits into a MMORPG framework. He actually used the word "buffs"! And Priory, I'm confused . I hate to point it out but the Trooper will be the second class reveal so far and I think we're still a long way from release yet... |

| Wait, so that means that they will be giving out Beta keys? In other news, I'm proud of this class reveal - it's awesome. That's Skursir out of the way, but the comic was a bit bad. I mean, it was really just a filler. | |

| well I was half right! (there was a web comic).
Nice to see a Republic class but shame its not a smuggler. Still, we have the "tank" class now at least!

Maybe Ranged DPS/Side Tank. They mention nothing about using any melee weapons and the non-force using melee characters will be the tanks. They'll just have a lot more constitution. I could use some race reveals next week soon, though! I say a month.

True, but the rifle is used as a melee weapon in the video. "POW! Right in the kisser.."

| Mandalorian Blademaster? Sith Halbard-Bearer?
I guess these are Sith suggestions. I don't see another melee class coming through to be honest, seems like Jedi/Sith may be the only ones. This may be a good thing as it will emphasise ranged combat and tactics more, so Jedi/Sith would be special.

| Who knows? they did say that each class will be able to be split into numerous sub-classes so you could have a smuggeler/rogue class thats melee only or maybe a blade specilist for the Trooper for when they fight sith? | |
