| This is just a bit of fun, but I value you folks' opinion and input, so I thought I would ask you about BioWare and there games.
Below is a list of BioWare games and what I would like you to do is copy and paste the template and let me know if you own / have played the game and what you thought of it.
MDK (Murder, Death, KIll)
MDK2: Armageddon
Baldur's Gate (& Tales of the Sword Coast Expansion)
Baldur's Gate II (& Throne of Baal Expansion)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Neverwinter Nights (Plus all Expnasions)
Neverwinter Nights 2 (Plus Expansions)
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Shattered Steel
Jade Empire
Mass Effect
You'll notice KOTOR2 is not here, I believe (someone please correct me if I am wrong) that although this is Lucasarts, it is not a BioWare game.
Also, what do people think about the upcoming DragonAge game?

| MDK (Murder, Death, KIll)Only played this briefly on my mates PS2 (I think) but it don't think I played it long enough to really pass judgement on it. Baldur's Gate II (& Throne of Baal Expansion)Awesome game! Old school but I loved it. You coudl see that BW had a great 'feel' for RPG's way back then. I especially liked loading in my own photos and making my own sounds for my character! Cracked me and the mates up that did! Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic1 word = Perfect. | |

| Ok, here's mine:
MDK (Murder, Death, KIll)
To be honest, I didnt play MDK all that much. That said I enjoyed what I did play; finding it a fun fast game with a great sense of humour. Plus the main character's outfit complete with odd arrow-shaped head I found frankly ace.
MDK2: Armageddon
I've never played MDK2, sadly.
Baldur's Gate (& Tales of the Sword Coast Expansion)
One of my all-time favourite RPGs. Despite NWN's technical superiority, this game still wins out for me. I think the lush storyline certainly helps, but it also introduced intelling AI for companions and was at the pinnacle of isometric-scrolling games. Loved every second.
Baldur's Gate II (& Throne of Baal Expansion)
Pretty much the same as above, this was just more greatness wrapped in a Baldur's Gate box!
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Now THIS was a star wars game. Dont get me wrong, there were good SW games before it, and there have even been a few good ones after it, but for me - this is the daddy of SW games. It had everything I was looking for in spades, and more besides. It rocked, and I still like to play it even now.
Neverwinter Nights (Plus all Expnasions)
I remember being desperately excited to try this game, and thank goodness I wasnt disappointed! Neverwinter nights felt like a long-time coming but was a natural progression to BG & BG2. I missed the Isometric-scroll, I wont lie - and I found some of the 3d-graphics a little...blocky. But that aside it sported the usual BioWare strong storylines and was a blast to play.
Neverwinter Nights 2 (Plus Expansions)
I've only ever played this briefly and to be honest, I was a little dissapointed. Why? I'm not sure in truth. I think its boils down to the fact that Neverwinter Nights was such a step up from Baldur's Gate than I expected NWN2 to be a big step up from NWN. I had new, innovative features sure, but it just didnt have THAT much different to it - even the graphics didnt look that much more improved. It looked kind of like a polished NWN. Odd. I will have to try it again.
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Never played it. It truth I cant stand the strange spikey little blue oddball.
Shattered Steel
Again, I never played this. I must be slacking indeed.
Jade Empire
A martial arts game with a proper fighting system, eastern philosophy and great cut-scenes? they couldnt do that, surely? well they did, and they did it bloody well. They even managed to get Nathan Fillion, Arman Zimmerman and John Cleeze in to do voice-overs. Incredible. Alas, I never completed it as my Vista machine ate all my save games once I hit the Imperial City.... didnt do so with Mass Effect since the upgrade though, so I'll try again one day soon!
Mass Effect
Stunning both visually and in storyline. This one is a real treat for the senses and is one of the few games in the last few years I've had real problems putting down. A space opera of excellence, its great in just about every way that counts for me. If this is the future of things to come... SWTOR will rock.
As for DragonAge? I'm not too sure. It reminds me of the Witcher for some reason which is in iteself a good game.... I'll have to check it out.

| Great topic, LW.
Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II are a couple of my favorite games from yesteryear (By which I mean the games old but not ugly old) Great stories for both of them, as well as some of my favorite side quests. The amount of time you can spend playing each is unlike anything else Bioware has done. And few others have either. Love 'em.
What can I say about KotOR that hasn't already been sung in love songs and written in the most precious poems. To this day it is my favorite game and it completely revolutionized my playing style as a gamer and a roleplayer. Looooovvvvveee it.
I liked Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights II but never as much as other Bioware games. Wasn't that I didn't think they were good. I try to be an objective person, I just didn't like them as much as all of the others. Like 'em.
Jade Empire had a hard time in pleasing me, as it was the first Bioware game I had played following KotOR. But after my first play through I came to admire the Glorious Strategist and the dynamic portrayal with which he is given. There weren't many other characters that I came to like within the story. I liked the girl with the two monsters inside of her and Death's Hand not really anybody else though. A lot of the quests were great. A few great choices. Top notch game overall. Like it.
Mass Effect! Again. I was a hard convert. Being as attached as I am to the Star Wars universe I had a hard time embracing an entire new cast of aliens and agencies. But eventually everything really caught on with me. And, although I didn't like many of the companions or characters, the storyline and the entire immersive universe Drew creates made me really enjoy this game for 4 or 5 play throughs. Another great bonus to this franchise for me is its gameplay and combat. If I'm not roleplaying I'm shooting and this is the first game since Deus Ex that really combines the two successfully. Love it.
I don't know much about DragonAge. I never find out about games before the reviews come out. My brother does that for me, and then appropriately hypes them up or shoots them down.
I'd like to give a shout out to my affair with Bethesda

| Bethesda do indeed rock, and not just Oblivion or Fallout3 either (which are, of course, exceptional) but also such amazing games as
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of The World!
I believe they did a few Star Trek games as well, but I've not played those.

| MDK (Murder, Death, KIll) Played it and loved it. From the start to the end this game was full of humour and fun. My brother and me spent weeks on this game just playing around with it. Truely great experience for that time.MDK2: Armageddon Played for a short time. As all sequals it wasn't as good and fun as the original IMHO but still i spent some time on it. Nice game Baldur's Gate (& Tales of the Sword Coast Expansion) Played it and passed it like 10 times. In my geek "community" it was and still is a example of the best way to introduce RP in games. It wasn't as huge and involving as Planescape: torment, But it was something great. One of the first true really enjoyable RP games i have played. Has a warm fuzzy, place in my heart. The characters and the dialogue from that game is still rinning in my mind and comes up in conversations Baldur's Gate II (& Throne of Baal Expansion) Played it. Liked it. Just like BG 1 it was a great expereince. Can't say much that this game was a worthy continuation of the original. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic What alse to say except it brought me to the SW world. I never was a huge fan of SW but this game showed me a side i never knew existed. Loved it and passed it multiple times playing around with characters and specs, stories and companions. Dark side always interested me and i didn't like the lack of ability to try that way in games. This game was one of the first that let me try it and i LOVED it. One of my top 10 most favorite RP games. Close to fallout and plaescape. Neverwinter Nights (Plus all Expnasions) I was a huge fan of Baldurs gate but NWN never won me over. I don't know what it was but i never enjoyed it as much as BG1 or 2. Played it, passed it. But form me it was to DnD to really enjoy. Neverwinter Nights 2 (Plus Expansions) Same as NWN2 but this one i actually never passed. Jade Empire Good game with a unique feel to it. But... and this is a huge BUT- it was to "console" for me. Especialy the combat. The characters waren't that likable, and the linearity of the game was really "console". But still i enjoyed it. Was a fun story. Mass Effect Good game but a bit to short and again a bit to "console" for me. Dialogues rocked and Shepard will be oine of my favorite characters of all time (especially the badass version ). This game had all that Bioware can offer. Good simple story that involved you, great characters one can like or dislike- relate to. Nice world with a bit of exploring to it... And a combat system that sucked so much ass it hurt. Thats my definition of bioware games... |

| Heres's mine: Baldur's Gate (& Tales of the Sword Coast Expansion) Though I never got round to the expansion, BG was excellent. Fantastic NPC script!
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
*tears in his eyes* Not… enough… words. They should… have sent… a poet...
Neverwinter Nights (Plus all Expnasions) Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t this the first time we see BioWare use the “companion” adventurer idea. Great game. Cool exotic beasties from the D&D monster manual.Neverwinter Nights 2 (Plus Expansions)Had a brief affair with alchohol round this time so I missed it. Ooohhh the regret.Jade EmpireI was really excited about this game but the playable demo completely put me off. Controls felt very clunky.Great thread. |

| NWN - At the time the best RPG ever imo and possibly still is.
KOTOR - NWN meets Star Wars made a great game. Don't think it went in depth as NWN, but the story was great and being in the Star Wars universe automatically made up for it.
Mass Effect - Thought the game was a bit short but great landscapes and story none the less.

Never played it
MDK2: Armageddon
Haven't played it
Baldur's Gate (& Tales of the Sword Coast Expansion)
Nope, haven't played it
Baldur's Gate II (& Throne of Baal Expansion)
Sorry, haven't played it
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
This is one that I have played. I totally loved this Game, but I feel as though the end boss was a bit too hard to beat, and therefore it was a while before I actually finished the game. I liked the story, it was not too complex (like it was in Kotor 2), but provided excellent twists in events. I recommend this game to any roleplayer or starwars fan. An 8/10 from me.
Neverwinter Nights (Plus all Expnasions)
Never played it
Neverwinter Nights 2 (Plus Expansions)
Never played it
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Never played it, never will
Shattered Steel
Never played it
Jade Empire
heard of it, but never played it
Mass Effect
This game is so totally awesome! The story is by far the best I have ever played in a game. The gameplay could have better in terms of combat, but I liked the powers they had. The game had frame problems with the graphics, and certain details took a while to load. But apart from that the graphics were good. An 8/10 from me
