| I just wondered, everybody is talking bout witch race he will take, but so far I didnt find any conformation that you will be abel to take any races beside human. And all the ingame images, videos so far are just with himans (players). And remember kotor 1 & 2, (tor is like online kotor 3...), there you could as well just take Humans.
Did Lucas arts, or Biowere conform that there will be Aliens playabile? if yes, will it have effects on your attributes, skills?

| Well they have "hinted" at other species on several occassions but I see where you're coming from. Of late I've been having a similar thought about Humans only.
After all, if you go to the Holonet page and look at the classes, they're all humans. If you look at the demo footage, all the playable characters are humans.
A part of me is starting to think that only the Companion characters will be non-humans. I appreciate that star wars really NEEDS non-humans, but I wonder whether BW might be going down their old root of PC = Human (Kotor, Mass Effect, Dragon Age), NPC/Companions = non-humans.
I think it would be a massive mistake, but I think its about 50/50. The engine they use does allow for non-human character models so it is definately doable, and its possible they are trying not to show too much info of other races before they narrow down the races you can actually play (chances are they won't have more than 8 playable races - of which human will be one - if they follow the mmo model), so looking at it from that angle, they could just be biding their time.
I've gone from "of course they'll allow non-humans, this is star wars!" at the beginning of this year to "Looks like just humans then..." a few months back to where I stand now which is "I just don't know..."
Guess we have to wait and see, but I won't be surprised one way or the other.

| I'm still not convinced I'm afraid - I'm gonna wait for official confirmation and, in the meantime just pray I am wrong and we get to play other species (Its no coincidence that my main and alt chars for here changed from Twi'lek and Feeorin to Human and Human though ) | |

| yeah but they also havent said "yes" or "no" either. If you were gonna announce "no", wouldnt you want to show off all the other funky stuff first in the form of damage control against such and obviously negative announce? Just sayin' | |

| The most far out race we have is Nex Deus' bird-man (who's name I cannot recall). It then has to be the Falleen and the Trandoshan. If they go for 8 races, then I'm really going to doubt that Skursir is on that list. Hopefully there will be Trandoshans, and not just as companions (hey, they had them on SWG!). | |

| I'd like to direct you to this forum thread Link of Powah! or you can read this quote. - Quote :
- Star Wars is a universe that has a plethora of races, humans obviously being the only one we've seen fully voiced so far, but are we going to be playing and hearing alien races?
Blaine: We have let slip that there will be playable alien species -- we haven't talked about the details on that yet.
The other thing I'll just point out is the example that we have so far if you watch the gameplay footage is: We have the initial conversation with the Bounty Hunter, it's the first conversation we see as a Bounty Hunter in the game, you'll actually see a Nikto named Jory speaking in his native tongue as it were, in the demo. So that's the little tidbit for those that watch closely. in fact lw you posted on that thread saying Huzzah *cough ..cough...insert old age memory joke here....

Well thats million dollar question ain't it? I personally think that there will be quit a variety to choose from. So far we've seen the following in-game Human Togruta Twi'lek Nikto Chagrian Kaleesh Mon Calamari Kel Dor I'm guessing there will be Wookiee, Rodian, Zabrak etc. as well.

Human Togruta Twi'lek Nikto Chagrian Kaleesh Mon Calamari Kel Dor Ah, but we've only seen a playable Kel'Dor and Human. Although I'm guessing that most of these will indeed by playable, there is nothing to say that most of them will be. I'm really crossing my fingers for Trandoshan here, otherwise, I'll... I'll... I'll wait for an expansion!

| My guess is the ones we've seen so far are going to be companions and they're keeping the playable ones out of sight, I mean we've seen quite a few rare species (Screen time rare) mostly so and not many tweliks and umm Vulcans. | |

hell if you're gonna bring in non-sw aliens I wanna be.... Kosh - Kosh & Sheridan, Season 3 Ep 1 of Babylon5 wrote:
Sheridan: [sighs] Well, as answers go, short, to the point, utterly useless, and totally consistent with what I've come to expect from a Vorlon. Kosh: Good. Sheridan: You know, I just had a thought. You've been back and forth to your homeworld so many times since you got here -- how do I know you're the same Vorlon? Inside that encounter suit, you could be anyone. Kosh: I have always been here. Sheridan: Oh yeah? You said that about me, too. Kosh: Yes. Sheridan: I really hate it when you do that. Kosh: Good.

| There was a Video Documentary with a Kel Dor who was running. The position of the camera and no-one else in sight made it obvious that the Kel Dor was player controlled. I'm not sure which Vid Doc is was though... | |

| Did anyone else notice this thread a while back? I was meant to post it up ages ago but I wasn't aware if anyone already had. Anyway, at GDC this year BW presented a lecture on facial animation and there were some interesting pictures (found below) that might give an insight on what species might be available (PC or NPC) in TOR: Species featured from left to right: (TOP) Bith, Arcona, Nikto, Anomid (BOTTOM) Devaronian, Advozse, Gamorrean, Abyssin

| Ooooo no I'd not seen that, but to be honest its not a massive surprise as we already know there are alien NPCs, lets just hope this means they can do player aliens!
Wonder how many we'll get to choose from? It'd also be cool if the customization was varied, many of the "near humans" could be easily doable...

| Unfortunately, until they officially confirm playable characters, these alien species can just as well be companion character, or even just NPCs... Nice find though... | |

| aye true, but it means they CAN do all the animations so there is no reason why they can't do it for player characters. My main concern is the sheer number of species in Star Wars which could be viable to play! Who gets to stay and who gets cut? | |

| Twelve playable species sounds like typical MMO amount and will probably cater for most of the main popular races. However, if Bioware really wants to stand out from the crowd then I can really see them doing as many as 20-30. What we have to factor in though is that each race will have several different voices so with 30 races, that's a lot of voices for a lot of storylines... In all honesty, I can see them doing quality over quantity. | |
