I'm looking for a lot of things out of sheer boredom. So if anyone has suggestions of movies, books, television, comics, games. Just treat it like a favorite things thread. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Edit: Things that are related to Star Wars, particularly The Old Republic. Are greatly encouraged.

Firefly tv series. Try it. It doesn't directly connect to SW but it has the scoundrel feeling

Thanks for the suggestion, Ali. I'm a big fan of Firefly and Serenity, just watched them again recently. Speaking of which, we were wondering, is your avatar Saffron? Perfect suggestion, though.

Dunno if this helps, but while I was writing Nightshade I would listen to SLAY Radio for inspiration. There's some really interesting tracks on there.

I cannot recommend enough the Gormenghast trilogy by Mervyn Peake.
Think imperial china's forbidden city to the n~th degree. Centuries of dust covers the castle's sacred stones and every day's events are broken into rituals the meanings of which were forgotten generations ago. Until an ambitious kitchen boy comes along and begins scheming.
The books are amazingly written in a style all of Peake's own with an almost poetic turn of phrase to every paragraph. The characters are eccentric but lovable and the theme of tradition vs progress is fascinating.
Some people find it a bit of a slog to read and for them I'd recommend the TV mini series the BBC made of the first two books (Staring Jonathan Rhys Myers, Stephen Fry, Jon Sessions and many more 1st class actors) and although it's brilliant the poetry of the original books should not be missed.
So that's one for you. Gormenghast.

*claps @ Redwatch*
Thats a fantastic book, insanely dark and thought-provoking and, as you said the BBC mini-series is also exceptional and worth watching even if you have read the book for the visual feast it represents.
Steerpike ftw!

I love the books . Even the third one Peake didn't get to finish. It takes a tangent and all goes so ****ing wierd.
Celia Imrie is amazing in the TV series playing the Countess and almost unrecognisable! - Gertrude ftw imho.

And not to be missed:
Can't wait for "Something, something, Dark Side"!

On the subject of comics, "The Ballad of Halo Jones" is a must have in any sci-fi fan's collection if you don't have it. And even if you're not into Marvel, "Civil War" is intelligent with gorgeous artwork.

Thanks for the great suggestions, guys. Checking out Wheel of Time, Gormenghast and Halo Jones. Listening to Slay Radio right now. Civil War is a great series and Family Guy is always funny.

Heh, I just recently watched Schindler's List and Edward Scissorhands (No, I'm not a goth, I just liked them...). They were pretty damn good, if dark. I give them my "Harle2" seal of approval!

I'm not sure which is worse, the "artwork", the sound-effects butchered in wherever possible or the so-bad-its-funny voice acting - either way if you can make it to the end of this (even if you are a huge fan of the original DOOM) then by jove you deserve a cookie!
