| I was just curious as to where people find sources of inspiration for their characters and stories? Starting up this guild has been a real pleasure for me, and I'd like to show a list of where I've been getting my inspiration from recently Star Wars Influences:Granse Confederacy Zann Consortium The Black Sun Movie Influences:Star Wars (obviously!) Wanted Blade Runner Hitman I'll add more when I can think of some. EDIT: Please read Lunar's description below and show us where you're getting your inspiration from for your character.

| Subject: Who/what are your SWTOR Character inspirations? Fri Feb 27, 2009 1:41 am | |
| As much as I'm sure we'd all love to say that our characters are 400% our own creations, its more that likely that we were inspired by something / someone (or in fact, multiple sources) that helped us shape our characters. Who / What do you think helped shape your character(s)? I'll start whilst its still fresh in my head: Ree'lak:My little Twi'lek picks up most of her perpetual-motion mentality, mischievousness and her mix of innocence/minx demeanor from: Farscape's Chiana: Whereas her (somewhat annoying) optimism coupled with her sharp wit and ability to survive just about any situation (not necc unscathed) most likely comes from: Firefly / Serenity's Wash: | |

| Not to worry, I've merged the topics now. Right I'll put one up for my Falleen character. I warn you these are a bit odd! Also this may change if I can actually play one in game. "THE MYSTERIOUS FALLEEN" This character gets his enigmatic approach, his need for wanting to stay anonymous and his connections to the crime world from: Keyser Söze of the movie 'The Usual Suspects': His cool, calm and collected yet arrogant demeanor comes from: James Bond, 007: Last but not least and the main influence for my character (for obvious reasons) is: Prince Xizor from Star Wars - The Shadows of the Empire

| Yeah it's quite a mish-mash from me there. I was also going to add 'Charlie' from Charlie's Angels and Dr. Claw from Inspector Gadget but I thought that was going too far!!! I'd also like to thank my pet Chameleon Little Jim for making me love colour changing freaks in the first place! p.s. He's a lot bigger now! | |

| Well, I got my inspiration for Skursir from a Red Cardinal Bird (don't ask why) I love that bird, a childhood favourite (and still is). Oh, and of course, Bossk. Ah, the galaxy had never been more full of wookie skins... | |

| Guess I can post this now that I have a character. Researching the Ubese and learning of their clan based society really put me in mind of the Fremen of Frank Herbert's "Dune" fame and probably influenced my decision to build a Ubese character. Fremen don't mind blowing ***t up for a cause which fits. As for personality... Sort of Halo Jones (from the comic) meets Sarah Connor (from the Terminator TV show Sara Connor Chronicles). But he's a guy. Of course, that's the idea. Subject to not sticking closely to it during roleplay when getting over excited. |

| If i said i wasn't inspired by something i would be lying. Unconsciously most of our characters are inspired by something... I gave it a long 5 second thought to figure out what character are mine inspired by. Strangely both of them are inspired by the same one person... guess who? |

| For my character Lilin Hylo my initial idea was to have a character I would definitely be able to play when the game gets released. So that made her human and a force user. I had a (fairly) straight-laced neutral character in Redwatch and was working on a jovial good guy (- more to come on him) so to be able to fully flex my role playing muscles she had to be a she, self-indulgent and a bit evil. But to give her some saving graces I came up with the background I did (ie; it's not her fault). So looking back my character probably is most like: Elle Driver, Kill Billand Bridget Fonda's character from The Assassin |

| Fuza 'Fuze' MacoyInfluencing my creating Fuza Macoy, these characters play a significant and an almost thoroughly allegorical part making Fuze into the archetypal character that he is. Robin Hood, in that he steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Diverging to be more practical for the universe by have a wealthy adopted father. With Lando Calrissian's personality. Also his inclination towards gambling in the verse. Odan-Urr, a great Jedi from the Great Hyperspace war (From which the Dark Emperor hails), shares Fuze's appetite for knowledge, influencing his scholarly pursuit. Haysh WaadasI haven't finished his page yet but, reading it, my allusions are quite evident. Chodo Habat, leader of the Telos Restoration Project, inspired his parents. Their adopted mother Aaysha is based on a healer in the Darth Bane books, named Jacob. And his entrance into the academy is based on really any Jedi. Anakin's owning those Sand People who killed his parents for Haysh's first signs of the dark side. And of course, Jolee. And of course, Kreia. And Frank Abignale Jr. from Catch Me if You Can, the guys from the Sting, Matchstick Man, a couple of those shows they have about cons, for his inspiration for his profession. | |

| My second alt (well actually my first, having been put together before Lilin) Palu Stris was almost a knee-jerk reaction to all the super special highly trained toughest, cleverest, strongest self-assured angst-ridden killing machines out there in RPG Land. Palu is uncomplicated to the point of almost being simple. He's not overly bright. He's open, honest and friendly. He'll go out of his way to help you and is therefore easily taken advantage of. He's had an unremarkable childhood and adult life thus far and is your average guy down the pub. The one you get stuck with who you wish would shut up but can't hold anything against cos they're nice - just annoying. The thing about Palu is that he's more than happy to play the supporting actor role in his life's movie when he should be playing the leading man. As there aren't (at the time of writing) many support character classes in the guild I've gone down a multi-class mechanic/medic role for him and woven the reasons into his background. Definite inspirations for Palu come in the form of Firefly's Kaylee and LotR's Samwise Gamgee. |

| Sam rocks, but Kaylee is just increible. Interesting fact? Jewel (who plays Kaylee) is pretty much like that in real life, a hottie AND a sweetheart. What a combo! | |

| My character Jens Jutoon, I sort of think of him a cross between to Mal Reynolds, Indiana Jones, Lando Calrissian and a bit of Rick Deckard thrown in. Vivaa Uko'od, she's got a little bit of Asajj Ventress a bit of Elle Driver and some Budd from Kill Bill as well. I'm still really working her out, but I sort of picture her with those type of character traits. Edit: I didn't read the thread before I posted and so didn't realize Redwatch had also a character with a bit of Elle Driver in her. I wasn't copying, honest! | |
