About Dates and E.P.O.C.H. - Your thoughts

As those of us who have been with E.P.O.C.H. for some time will know, the way the Guild and its Lore have been put together has been deliberately restrained and kept secret until SW:TOR release more definitive information regarding such things as factions, races, classes etc.

Since that point we've had information revealed to us and rolled with the punches, so to speak. We started as a Neutral Guild (and for RP purposes we still are) but when it was announced only two Factions would exist in-game, we moved to the Sith Empire, for example.

One of the points we've remained heavily reluctant to set in stone is dates of events. Even our Official Guild Timeline currently has no dates on it.

We're aware that this is point of contention among some Guildies and would like your thoughts as to whether you think the time approaches that we should consider including dates in our Lore, Timeline and general Guild Info.

We know a few things for certain:

* E.P.O.C.H. as an Agency was formed after 2 ATC, as this is when our employer, The Mysterious Falleen; left the GTC and consolidated his power base.

* We know that TOR is set "Around 10 ATC", but we have no definative date.

* TOR is definately set after the Treaty of Coruscant because the Timeline goes backward from that point, looking into the past.

* Two of our major Allies The Praxeum and The Hands of Darkness have both created the evolution of their Guilds around 0 - 9 ATC

What we would like to know is whether you think we should consider adding official dates into our events, or wait until BW/LA give a definitive, official canon date that SW:TOR is set.

What if we set all the rp we've done and plan on doing set between 2 Atc and 10 when the game starts, that way when the game is launched we can rp and keep it in line with the dates in game (hope this makes sence)

We have ideas that the game will start around 10ATC so 0-8 atc

I vote no: not info has been released so far!

It's a "no" from me too for precisely the same reason that Soude stated. I know we have it confirmed by a dev that the dates are near enough to 10 ATC but I'd like to see something a bit more solid, especially as stories and RP gets closer to the timeline when the game actually starts. If we have a year or so of nothing happening then I reckon it'd look a bit odd.

I voted for the continued strike action against British Airways becuase I want my flying perks.

I voted "YES" because I think we do actually have enough info to go on now.

We have a safe six-year time frame to work in. We know that Falleen left GTC around 2 ATC and we know that TOR is set "around" 10 ATC so I personally think its pretty safe to set all of our major events between 0 - 8 ATC, as Nord said.

If things turn out differently than we suspect (which I very much doubt), we can always just alter the dates - after all thats what all the other Guilds would have to do.

I think bringing dates into the equasion would give everything a more real and solid feel, another connection to the new canon star wars lore being created by BioWare & LucasArts.

I voted yes for the same reasons as LW and Nord. We know that the game takes place somewhere around 10ATC, and any changes to that can be reflected in the timeline later if needs be. Like Nord said, keep the major events between 0-8 (or even 0-9) and then if the game start date leaves a gap like Sureshot was worried about, spread out the events a bit to keep consistency.

I'd prefer we were solid now on our timeline with a chance we may have to make a few edits later rather than being ambiguous all the way up until launch (or a confirmation).

Yes basically for the reasons LW gave, it would only require a small change in dates if there was a problem and I'd like in game RP for us to be already and established Guild which have worked together for a few years.
