| Here's a quick poll to find out what the guild thinks about the current hype surrounding TOR. Do you feel it's died for you a little bit after the discovery that we won't be playing the game until 2011? Or do you feel still feel as if the buzz is as strong as it's ever been?
Personally I feel the hype has died down for this game and it still has me scratching my head wondering why they announced the game so early on. I've been pretty disheartened by it all and I honestly don't find the updates that appealing anymore either. If it wasn't for my interest in the guild then I could whole heartedly say that I'd dissapear from anything TOR related until we got closer to beta or release.
How does everyone else feel about this?

| Yeah I personaly think they're suffering post spokesperson cockup after he released the release date Tbh I'm kinda confused at their time table it just seems really odd to actually announce it a good 2 years before its release and give so much info away on a regular basis, thats something you do closer to release rather then a good year before release. It wouldnt surprise me if they've just had a slip with getting everything developed and their schedule has been postponed :/ | |

| Definately, and to be honest if it wasn't Star Wars with its rather excessive fan base it might well have bombed by now even though it's BioWare.
I agree totally on the stupid idea to announce it so very far ahead of the release....
I mean, if you look at other BW games..***
KOTOR:
Announced: 2001 Released: July 2003
Neverwinter Nights:
Announced: April 2000 Released: July 2002
Mass Effect:
Announced: October 2005 Released: Nov 2007 (on XBOX, a year later for PC)
Then compare that to TOR:
Announced: October 2007 (official announcement, plenty of rumours beforehand going back as far as 2005) Released: Spring 2011 (apparently)
So why if all the other games have managed to stick to a 2 year turnaround did BioWare officially announce TOR 4 years before its due to come out? (assuming it does come out then)
Would'nt it have made sense to have announced it in 2009?
Perhaps it was in response to those rumours flying around about a "KOTOR3", but then again, why bother responding to that? BioWare have had plenty of successful titles since KOTOR and are one of the leading industry giants..... I've heard of "whipping up a media storm" but really... 4 to 7 years worth? really?
*** All announcement dates are from the official BW site.

| Well I guess that I am not in a such bad mood since I just started w8ing for the game (compared how long some of us r ) but I find it great that they gave us a date so we know when it will come, it makes it easyer.
and to the question why they Announced it so erly. I guess they wanted to see how many ppl r interested in the game to see if it is worth the effort of making it.... they r E V I L

I was trying not to mention Dragon Age as it went against the model I was trying to portray But still, thats only 1 game compared to many others doing 2 - 2 1/2 years. Hopefully its not what we can expect to see from now on? - Lord_Nord wrote:

Yeah thats a really good point! Is there any news of when the Beta is starting yet?

| I do think the hype has stalled a bit myself. If they'd have stuck to a few announcementa and held off hosting a hue site w/ offical forums, I'd somehow feel more inclined to forgive them for the looooong development period. But they've jumped in at the deep end given people reason to feel fatigued. I really don't mind long dev periods. My favorite game franchise is Nintendo's Zelda and those (non-DS) titles are at least a good 5/6 years between release and are utterly amazing upon play. But making such a big fuss when you now you're so far off going gold does feel like a bit of a hoodwink. Still can't wait to play though! |

| I'm sure that those who don't really look at the big picture looses some faith in BioWare however most people and gamers realize that it takes time to perfect a game like SWTOR and with the release date postponed it only means that there will be more time to work out flaws and bugs and perhaps even more time for, dare I say, beta testing!
Personally I have not lost any faith nor have I de-hyped myself for SWTOR. Even since I saw the meaty trailer dubbed 'Decieved' I've been head over heels for any snip of information as well as all over wookipedia speculating and researching things.
A lot of people are probably de-hyped, I'm not!
