| For those of you that are new to the guild or didn't play LotRO in my guild Deepwinters Defence (which would only be Mai and Raif!) or in L-Dubz kinship The NerĂ¡nians in LotRO I thought I'd discuss how I'd like to see the guild crafting go in TOR. Obviously we don't know anything about this subject yet or how BW will handle it but I think in LotRO we had a good system.
To keep it short we basically had designated roles (i.e. chief guild weaponsmith) for each profession where the people that were more into the crafting side of things specialized in that department thus covering every different aspect, be it armour, weapons, healing potions, food etc. We found this system helped an awful lot within both guilds and it's something that I will definitely be following if the crafting system has different professions. In a similar fashion those that didn't contribute to crafting say for example not providing materials or having a profession themselves recieved little from the crafting department.
I've added a poll to this to find out how interested in crafting you are in MMO's just to get a rough idea who we're likely to be seeing in the crafting department (if we need one). After you've voted PLEASE REMEMBER TO LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW. I've quite simply left the poll open to see how interested you are with 1 being not interested at all and 5 being a crafting addict!
How would you like to see crafting handled in E.P.O.C.H?

| Well, I don't know what kind of crafting options exists but if there is some, Then I'm going to be a space mechanic It fits with my character and you could just boss me around while you're piloting or something | |

| Nice! Another crafting nut! Yeah I'm a massive sucker for crafting if it's implemented well. Personally I quite like making armour so I wouldn't be surprised to see me doing that if it's a profession. Actually building droids would be awesome and it sounds like great fun! Definitely something I'd consider if it was available anyway. | |

| Love it, love it, love it! Well here I spoke about how I hoped crafting in ToR would work, and four months later I still feel that way. As for how we should handle it as a guild within E.P.O.C.H... I'm not sure. In the Neranians I accepted to become the guilds Scholar but in the end though, to be frank, I hated it. It wasn't what I wanted to do but there were already three (or more) other Armourers. So even though it was totally my choice, I plumbed for something 'useful' to the guild that would please everyone rather than what I really wanted. So although I'm all for each of us having our own roles in principle, I would only back this idea if I got first dibs! |

| I don't think Skursir will be crafting himself. BUT - I definately want to see EPOCH with their own (at least close to) self-sufficient crafting basis. Perhaps this could link into what I was talking about earlier with a smuggling cartel were we can smuggle in our own items (not just other people's). | |

| Do you mean like somebody making weapons and then somebody else selling them IC as though they've been smuggled in? Yeah I can imagine that would be quite fun.....if you'd get a good price for my items of course! Yeah I can imagine that would keep the people that wanted to be Smugglers in E.P.O.C.H happy at least. Although I have to say I do see myself more of a manufacturer than I do a salesman! | |

| Skursir will happily act as a temp salesman... For a price... *rubs fingers* Yeah, that's what I meant really. IC, it would be like we've smuggled in items. To increase the image, we'd probably target the hardest-to-make items by (maybe calling in debts or using a guild resources bank) getting rare materials as well. We could also "gather" (I hate the word "farm") items from out of reach areas to most people and charge an arm and a leg for them - because we can. Maybe we could be sort of like the UN (definately not a good comparison using a peacekeeping organisation to a black ops agency) were we're split into different jobs: Smuggling Cartel, Intel Bank, Assassination Inc. Etc. Just throwing that into the water | |

| LOL! I like the idea of RPing the odd dodgy black market transaction in the back of a cantina but I think splitting the guild into different groups is a big NO-NO. After all we're badass assassins, spies, mercs etc. so I'd rather leave the trading aspect out of the lore & background. Put simply we're hired blasters/sabers with some nifty specializations not traders. I just wanna kill things, can you tell? - Tando wrote:

Haha! Well that is a benefit of being in a guild that I'm running. I always put the guild first when it comes to gear and I never want to see anyone selling anything to another member! It's all free baby! Oh yeah!

Are we having some sort of EPOCH Credit system were every week, you get something like 5 credit ands you can spend a credit on an article of clothing, armour, weapon, gadget, etc. Everything is 1 credit, but it will still give what we make some worth.

| My thoughts regarding a smuggling ring and/or salesmen: Everyone will be using the auction houses or whatever they're going to be called in TOR (the black market perhaps?), so it's probably best we appoint one person to be the EPOCH crafters/farmers front end if we want to RP the selling of stuff.
And as far as giving away crafted equipment: Assuming the game doesn't cater to guilds right off, will someone be keeping track of who contributes what in terms of cash/materiel to the guild? A wide open system could be taken advantage of. |

Being the main crafter in about 4 different fields meant I never really had to ask people for anything in my guild on Evenight but I always kept a close eye on who was doing what for the rest of the guild. Some people preferred to help out n00bs in levellling constantly whilst others would prefer to make things for other people. At the end of the day like I said in the heirarchy section of the Guild F.A.Q the more you put in the more you get out. Things seemed to work quite well with those of us that played in the NerĂ¡nians so I can imagine it'll be quite similar in E.P.O.C.H.

| Well I voted for 3. I enjoy crafting, when there is nothing else to do. However, i really don't like grinding for materials, so I hope for some interesting innovation in this field by Bioware In addition, I'm not only creating "The Thumb" character, I'm also creating a human expert in chemistry and explosives. So when some crafting possibility would appear in these fields, I would welcome it greatly, as this character will be my in-game one I think | |

| TBH honest I was never a huge fan mainly becuase I was a complete noob in WoW, but building drouds and weapons sounds very enticing to me, and I'm sure we can do some guild raids on areas for materials, I had a similar idea for the Guild funds manager raiding high end guys with great loot and selling it for the guild bank | |
