| Is it me or am I the only person who's REALLY strict on naming policies anymore? I've been to several roleplay guilds sites and found some really suspect names of late. Actually I've just posted what I thought of one on a thread over at the GTC site, because I honestly don't want the guy to be ganked or abused to kingdom come when he appears with the name ProtonBunny!! Am I just being too harsh? Because I really don't think I am. | |

| You're prob not the only one, but you're certainly among a number I'd like to refer to as "few".
And no, you're not being too harsh, at least I dont think so. One way to tell is to imagine said stupidly-named character being summoned by some sithesque badass like DV or General Grievious..
for example, hearing ol' Lord Vader go "Bring me the one they call ProtonBunny..." That'd make me walk out the cinema right there.

| I'm strict on naming to. Here's a moment in WoW (or at least similar to it) when I really cringed:
My party was tracking down a fallen Paladin in Goldshire. We were hot on his tail, though he kept slipping away. We followed him to Scout and Mage Towers, to the roof of the Goldshire inn and back again. Right in the middle though, we were approached by a l33t-named character. Did he roleplay? Guess. "u shud b lvling" was what he said, or something like that. It really ruined the immersion.

There should really be more defined naming rules for playing on a roleplay server, if those will even exist. But no matter what, like Harlequin's story, there will always be l33t players who just come on the server to mess people because they have nothing better to do.

| I can't think of how one would go about vetting names for sillyness on an mmorpg. Rude word filters are expected of course but I can't see a manual check instituted by BioWare, even for dedicated rp servers. Maybe a petition scheme once things are running? Guess the best we can hope for is discouragement by guild leaders. Doesn't protect against lone ***holes though. |

| Im all for a strict naming policy, people called names like "DarthDude365" or "ImaKillULol" ruin the game. I liked how LOTRO handled the issue. |
