| Is this old news to anyone? I only found out today and thought I'd pass along the info in case anyone else didn't know. On the What part of the timeline does the game take place? the following researched info was written: - AcarioGenteel wrote:
"IGN Comics: How closely does this comic tie into the game? Is there a common cast of characters between the two?
Rob Chestney: Yeah, there is. The cool thing about the comic is that it's set during probably the most critical moment in the history leading up to the game, which is the sacking of Coruscant and the treaty that's signed thereafter. We're basically setting up this difficult, painful peace treaty between the Republic and the Empire that really exists up until players enter the game. So it takes place in that time period where that sacking is taking place and that treaty is being signed. We say that it's more than a decade before the game, but we don't get too specific because we want to give some sort of leeway for timing."
The Webcomic press release states 30 years. http://www.swtor.com/news/press/20090207_001
"The stories will span the three decades from the pivotal signing of the Treaty of Coruscant to critical events at the beginning of the game."
So the game starts more than a decade after the Treaty of Coruscant but no more than 3 decades. We won't have an exact date or timeframe until the webcomics are finished and the game is ready for release. Also, remember that it is Rob Chestney that is writing the stories for the web comic. So I think it's safe to place our guild's vague and not-talked-about timeline more than a decade ATC. Many thanks go to Iorio Tenova of the Praxeum for answering my questions and bringing this timeline info to my attention. |

| Argh! Idiots. Still, this is one of the reason I'm glad I haven't completed the guild backstory. I'm not touching a thing to do with it until I get some hard facts, and this is why I like to wait. I wouldn't be surprised if they change it again. Anyway lore-wise for us we started not long after "The Falleen" left the GTC to go underground so I may have to check with Torgal about that one. | |

| Awww shucks. I think we've been doing alright keeping our timelines vague. Is it not viable to go ahead with the writing up the lore with such things as "Not long after the signing of the Treaty..." and "some few years passed as plans were brought to fruition...". Things that specific dates can be inserted into afterwards when we do know know more (at a far, far away future date – thanks again Bioware!)? |
