| I'm not buying Windows7, at least not initially.
I currently have Vista Ultimate 32-bit which is a dog, but strangely I've only heard good things about the 64-bit version so I'm gonna save up for that.
My pc is all set up for 64bit but I've avoided it thus far because its not compatible with all the games and programs I like. In the last year thats changed a lot and is not really the case anymore, so its 'save-up' time for me.

| Not at the moment, unless I buy a new machine, which is very doubtfull indeed.
I have a 12 month old decent laptop (Alienware Area-51 m9750)with Vista Ultimate on it and a 4 year old Win XP Pro PC. So I have no need for a new machine.
I'm also thinking about the 64bit version of Vista for my laptop, but that will be a long time away. I may not get it at all. I need a job first before I get stuff like that.

| I have no need for a new Windows OS. My Vista is really smooth, fast and funky. I won't take risks with "7" unless I really think that I need it, which will be sometime in the future. Or, I can skip it and wait for Windows 8. Only time will tell... | |

| Does anyone know if 7 32bit comes with a free upgrade to the 64bit OS like they offer with retail copies of Vista 32bit? If they do, I might get it because I heard 7 will be going up in price after a little while of it hitting the market (an initial knock-down price to encourage take-up). If I can upgrade to 64bit for free later down the line it'll save me money on buying a 64bit version at full price later on when I'm ready for one. |

| Whilst I can't base my entire decision on a single video.... This doesn't fill me with confidence. I doubt i will move up to the (obviously massively expensive) Windows7 if this is the sort of performance upgrades I can expect. Sure, windows7 is better, but its not so much better as to justify an expensive upgrade. Rather than continually bringing out OS after OS, why don't MicroSith actually sit down and FIX one of their operating systems to make them better? If I do upgrade it will be to Windows Vista 64-bit. | |

| Is there really any point to getting anything other than Home Premium though? The other packages will just clog up your machine with a pointless networking security updates you'll never need to enable. lol And the XP compatability mode they're tricking people into buying Professional with is a smokescreen; it's just a poorer version of VMware running a copy of the XP OS in tandem with W7. And it doesn't work with your GPU's 3D acceleration (ie; XP games which gave you problems uder Vista still won't work on W7 even in XP mode). It's included because business users have bespoke (run-of-the-mill 2D) software which only works under XP. |

| Kinda depends.
If its similar to Vista in its make-up (I've not played around with and dissected Win7 yet), then its worth getting the Ulitmate version.
With Vista, Ultimate was the only truly "unlocked" version, Premium had many features locked out / inaccessible and Home was even worse.
If they don't follow that pattern with Win7 though, well then its anyone's guess.

| Yeah, I've been reading a lot of reviews in mags and online and though I'm usually of the "I want every possible feature - how dare you try and fob me off with a cut-down knock off" persuasion, it seems the only stuff that you get on top of Home Premium is actually for business use: Don't get me wrong, I run a pretty decent Windows home network (2x PCs, 2x Laptops, 2x 1TB External HD Stations, 1x Printer) (and an Xbox360) but can't for the life think of why I would need all those extra business checkboxes. And it's Microsoft. You just know the more hard drive you give them, the more they'll swallow with MBs of updates every week! lol |
