Introducing WolframAlpha

Spending some well overdue time with my friends at Reddit, this just came up and I thought it was pretty cool.

You're right, that is cool!

Unfortunately I think there is something terribly wrong with me - I was watching that, thinking "this is a really cool idea! I wonder how much computing would be needed to create and maintain a database that big?"

Then, for some reason a really odd idea popped in my head and clouded the rest of the screen-cast.

"I wonder what I would need to do to break it?"

Why if someone creates something so spectaculary useful and huge in scope do I want to destroy it? Its not a jealousy thing, I *know* I couldnt do something like that.

Maybe I want to see what its capable of?

Maybe chaos is more fun than order.

I agree completely, BH - its a cool idea and ambitious project.

A private company doing such a project must make one think what the military computer projects look like O.o

Makes google and wiki prehistoric... You won't use the net to search for answers other humans have. You will ask the machine a question and it'll answer it... In a primitive way but.. WoW. O.o

Hmmm I wonder where they pull the data from... wikipedia? I can't really believe they have amassed this kind of info on their own...
