(44 - 26 BTC) Humble Beginnings

Ne'tra Kar'ta was born Isshbecca, son of Shorryyhn, in the village Acrahowowh, translated literally "Haven". Although slightly darker hued and slightly larger sized than most of his fellows in Acrahowowh, Isshbecca, named roughly "Dark Defender" for his color and his lineage, was no different than any other Wookiee. He played and wrestled with his friends, like any other young male would. In a town as small as Acrahowowh, everyone is friends and, with Wookiees, no one is left out. So like any other young Wookiee he was taught to fight, but with his blades and not his claws. And fought he did, he undoubtedly became the strongest, quickest and most skilled of his age group. He reveled in combat, real combat, not playing around, sparring or wrestling. He loved blood. He became a great hunter in the Shadowlands, but he was still not old enough to travel down alone. But every young Wookiee would, it was the great unknown, it was where all of their fathers made their names and won their glory. That wasn't Isshbecca's motive, he cared not for fame and glory, nor the joy of being able to protect the village and his family and friends, he didn't have any of those emotions. Come to think of it, he didn't have any emotions. He doesn't remember ever being happy or sad. He has simply been going through the motions of life. Merely watching his friends have fun and seeing his family's adoration, only noticing these emotions, never experiencing them. The only time he felt anything was the adrenaline he experienced in combat, the blood and the life seeping from his prey.

Ne'tra Kar'ta - Background Blackh10

So he began venturing into the "Cacrawaooohanrawhwac" more often. Spending any of his free time there. Some people must have thought he was crazy and, in some ways, he was.

One evening, after dinner when everyone was socializing in Acrahowowh, Isshbecca went into the Shadowlands. He was taking a route he rarely followed so he encountered more enemies but lost his knowledge of the environment. After a few Viper Kinrath, and a few others, he encountered a pair of Katarns, not posing him much of threat, he was foolhardy and after sticking the first one, he broke the blade and had to kill the second with his claws. Attacking with one's claws is extremely deplorable in Wookiee tradition but, being unaffected by common conceptions, he had practiced killing with his claws before and finished off the final Katarn. But without his blade and as night took hold, Isshbecca thought it time to head back to the village. On his way back, he saw his uncle Lowchit, Chieftain of Acrahowowh, proceeding solitarily through the forest ground. The rare sight of the Chieftain in the Shadowlands was more so by the time of his arrival and the nonexistence of his company. Isshbecca was in no rush, so he figured he would follow. It wasn't long until Chieftain Lowchit reached his destination, into an area that must have been magic, he just saw Lowchit disappear entirely. It certainly was nothing a Wookiee could do and it would account for all of the disappearances in the village; but the Chieftain wasn't a disappearance, he walked there with purpose. Typically, this would be referred to as a "bad" scenario but he didn't care about the morality involved. Morals weren't his business. He did, however, see an opportunity. He didn't know what was in there, but he knew the Chieftain was involved. It would be tough to accomplish, especially armed with only his claws. Then he remembered that the Chieftain was carrying his Ceremonial Ryyk Blades, handed down from Chief-to-Chieftain. He waited awhile, he could hear the chieftain talking and heard some others speak in a language he didn't understand. When Lowchit sounded like he was beginning a tirade, Isshbecca crept in, seeing a whole camp when he got closer, he saw someone in black clad armor off to the side, but he needed weapons first, so he stole the Chieftain's blades. He started with his left hand, stabbing his uncle in the heart, his right, advancing across the human's neck only to slit it on the blade's way back. As the next two stood up and grabbed for their blasters, Isshbecca approached them, they were mincemeat by the time he was finished. He decapitated the last one. He had never felt so alive. There was only the one in the black suit. Whoever it was hadn't moved an inch. He just sat and watched. Then he stood up.

"Ibac ru'cuy... bralovyc."

(54 - 26 BTC) Aruetii

Ne'tra Kar'ta - Background AruetiiHeadShot

The man in the black suit of armor was once a child himself. Where he was born or how he was enslaved is unknown. But eventually he ended up in the ranks of Mandalorians and, as such, was trained to fight like a Mandalorian. His name was Nil'or Ka'teesh. He wasn't destined for greatness. In the battle ring, he lost in many unarmed confrontations and therefore he wasn't looked upon highly within the clan. He trained and knew all of the fighting styles very well, but he simply wasn't big enough to compete. When it came armed combat, blasters and grenades, he was an ace combatant. He also excelled at utilitarian abilities, working with computers, locks, explosives and droids. Because of this, he was often given necessary but thankless tasks and looked upon with little respect from his fellow Mandalorians. It's not that he cared what the other Mandalorians thought though, but at a Mandalorian encampment what was there to care about if not respect? Respect and honor were the currency in the encampment and, bereft of either, there was no incentive to follow the clan's orders.

The Mandalorian clan was like any of the other existing remnants of the Mandalorian culture. This group, like many others, chose to defend the Galactic Republic when The Great War erupted. The clan had appointed a leader, Mandalore the Reformer, known for his diplomacy and skill with a blade but also known for his support of the Republic and the success that he had seen in aiding them. Considering this, he knew there would be a day when the Sith would come. And being the bountiful leader that he was, he gave the responsibility of single-handedly operating the defense network of the encampment to the relatively ordinary Nil'or Ka'teesh.

Nil'or, being jaded and indifferent to the fate of his clan, chose to keep the knowledge of the Sith vessels coming towards their location to himself. He did send them a message, however, that there was a more beneficial outcome than vaporizing the encampment if they just sent a small land party to the encampment, he could make sure they would have easy access to Mandalore. Reaching Mandalore, all the Sith would need to do is challenge him to a duel and, winning that, the Sith would have complete control over the Mandalorian clan. All that Nil'or asked in return was the freedom to leave after the battle.

So Nil'or deactivated the turrets, barriers and mines and cleared a landing port for the Sith and sent them the relative coordinates, a well-marked area map and the appropriate time to attack. The Sith only sent one small ship to the encampment, with one Dark Jedi Marauder and a few assassins. They quietly assassinated anyone in their path and then defeated Mandalore in hand-to-hand combat. Well, this is all what Nil'or had assumed. The Republic normally offered the Mandalorian clan transport to where ever their assistance was needed, and for their assistance the Mandalorians were given supplies and weapons. But never a ship. So, when the Sith entered the camp, Nil'or took the opportunity to make good on his end of the bargain. He killed the pilot still in the ship, dumped his body outside of the ship, and proceeded on his way.

He didn't clear the planet's atmosphere until he was far from the Sith warship, of course. The fundaments of flying the Sith ship were the same as any other, they had only left known space after the Great Hyperspace War, so there isn't that much variation to be had after that. He never learned the official title of the ship, so he just named it "Haar Jaar", literally "The Kamikaze" in Mando'a. Nil'or adopted a new for himself as well, among Mandolorians he would be known as an "Aruetii", a traitor, and he thought that fitting.

Years went on and he did any job that would pay. Keeping no official affiliations opened up a lot of job opportunities in the galaxy. Sith and dark jedi, the Republic and jedi, illegitimate organizations and legitimate organizations all payed. So he worked for all of them.

Ne'tra Kar'ta - Background 200px-Aruetii

After ten years of working the galaxy he came upon a pretty steady living for a few months. It paid well, had free housing and food, all that was necessary was a couple days' work every week and, of course, abandoning any morals. He worked for Czerka on Kashyyk. Czerka had returned in a much less official manner for the same operation they had a few centuries ago. And Revan wasn't around to rally the Wookiees to revolt, so there was no problem. Czerka had an arrangement with a couple of the Wookiee villages. Substantial ones, at that. Aruetii's job was to help trap Wookies that were in the Shadowlands at the appropriate times. His role was pretty simple, the villages had done something to encourage young Wookiees to go into the Shadowlands alone so he usually wouldn't have to do anything but set up a few traps here and there. On some of the bigger ones, he had to bring them down or knock them out, but that usually wasn't necessary. The hardest part of the job was usually loading and unloading the transport; and it paid well.

One night in Telona, the Czerka team was setting up camp near Haven, like they did every other Katunda. When they had finished setting up the cloaking devices, everyone settled down a bit. The stationary area cloaking devices were relatively new technology at the time or, at least, not a lot of people were using them; a few of the animals, never Wookiees, could still find them and them and still attacked but that's what a blaster's for. That night after it got a little later, the Wookiees' leader, Lowchit, came to camp. Aruetii also blasted him when he came in. He had no idea what the Wookiee was here for. Aruetii had learned to understand Shyriiwook almost fluently in his free time at the Czerka base and when he spoke it, it was laughably recognizable. And when the Wookiee got to talking it sounded more like a warning than anything. Aruetii had expected a conversation telling them to hold off for tonight. But this was good news, Aruetii liked a challenge, a break from the monotony. From what he gathered, there was young hunter out here that he'd like to see taken care of. He began describing the Wookiee, simply hairy wouldn't do. As their Chieftain was talking, he saw another Wookiee sneak up behind, it was impressive he would have almost missed him until the last second. 'Who'd ever seen a Wookiee sneak?' Aruetii thought. He didn't reach for his blasters. Hearing what Lowchit said, this guy seemed much more valuable as an ally than as a victim. The Wookiee, Isshbecca maybe, didn't even have any weapons with him. That took gumption. So he grabbed the Chieftain's blades and proceed to take down all of the slavers before they could even grab their guns. Aruetii had always wanted to see Wookiee Rage, but that's not what this was. One look at this guy's eyes and anyone would have known, he had no stake in this. Just a blade in it. Just precision. Aruetii didn't do anything for a few seconds after he finished, he just sat there in awe. This was much better than any Mandalorian he'd ever seen. Then he stood up.

"Ibac ru'cuy... bralovyc." (( Mando'a: That was...efficient ))

Ne'tra Kar'ta - Background Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ne'tra Kar'ta - Background   Ne'tra Kar'ta - Background EmptyMon Mar 23, 2009 2:11 pm

(26 BTC – 0 ATC) Euphoria

Isshbecca didn't know what the man said. It wasn't basic, he had heard basic. The man in the black armor started loading the poles and the cage into the compartment. He left everything else. The compartment turned out to be mobile and he had Isshbecca sit in it. The man spoke in broken Shyriiwook but Isshbecca could understand him. He moved until they were at what must have been a spaceship, covered in shrubs and twigs. He opened it and started loading the equipment from before into it. He told Isshbecca to get into the ship and then didn't say anything else.

Once they were far away from Kashyyk, the man began to explain everything, as best as he could. He tried to say, "Scro whrascwo ahc Aruetii. Rawhwa aoacahc ahc wokraoaaoanro ohacraao rooohu ohworcwo anooooorahwhrr wwoorc. Rooohurc whrascwo ahc Rhanraoaor Acworarcao, N'etra K'arta, Black Heart." (( Shyriiwook: My name is Aruetii. And this is exactly what you were looking for. Your name is Rhanraoaor Acworarcao, Ne'tra Kar'ta, Black Heart. ))

Aruetii saw a side of himself in Ne'tra Kar'ta. But the other side was completely different, and completely complementing his. So, while looking for a new job, Aruetii taught Ne'tra Kar'ta Galactic Basic and then, eventually, Mando'a. They didn't have the typical relationship of Wookie and Human, there was no life debt, life debts mean nothing to Ne'tra. Blood was his credits and credits were Aruetii's blood. They were given the name of The Black Butchers by some hutt. It seemed to stick. And they kept working all over the galaxy for all of the possible employers. And when they had to choose between two employers, they chose whichever was most advantageous to them at the time. This went on for twenty-six years. There are too many stories to tell.

(0 ABY - Present) Half of the Team

The year 3656 marked the last days of The Great War, with the Treaty of Coruscant signed, the fragile alliance between the Sith and the rest of the galaxy was formed and the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire began. But before this resolution was formed there was a heated conflict on Coruscant widely referred to as "The Sacking of Coruscant". Aruetii and Ne'tra Kar'ta were of the few elite mercenaries commissioned to aid the Sith in this incursion.

Neither Aruetii nor Ne'tra Kar'ta were particularly fond of missions on Coruscant. There was too much order. Consequences. They never committed their actions "above" the law, they simply did what they did in spite of the law. On most worlds that system had served them pretty well, but Coruscant was the hub of the Republic and all of its inherit regulations. This wasn't to say that they couldn't do the job that they were commissioned to do, it would simply be a little harder. Their job, assigned by Lord Angrel, was to wait on Coruscant until Sith forces arrived and then, after reinforcements arrive, kill everyone they encounter around the Jedi Temple. Ne'tra was elated when this request was made but, feeling as he did about Coruscant, Aruetii was understandably hesitant about accepting this obligation. But surrounded by the Sith Fleet in a stolen Sith ship it was obligatory that Aruetii receive this mission. He also couldn't have followed through and crushed his Ne'tra's excitement. The Black Butchers fulfilled their motto, that no appropriately funded request is out of the question. Aruetii and Ne'tra, along with thirty or so other mercenaries on the ship, agreed to aid the Sith in this matter.

After almost a week of waiting inconspicuously on Coruscant, near the Jedi Temple, the destruction visible and audible in the sky above Coruscant clarified to everyone on the planet what was about to happen. And so, their mission began.

The Cantina they were in wasn't the typical Cantina, it was more like a Jedi common room. Padawans and Jedi Knights relaxing and playing games. It was like shooting Selkath in a barrel. Aruetii, Ne'tra Kar'ta and the five other mercenaries came at them with all that they had. It wasn't long until they were all done. Now they just had to wait and kill any jedi that came out of the Temple. There wasn't many coming and going, but the ones that did were too distracted by their city being laid to waste to resist their demise. Soon, ships came unloading Sith Marauders. The Butchers thought that the mission would be mostly observing from then on. That's when the Jedi Masters started coming out. Aruetii and Ne'tra were a good team for fighting jedi, Aruetii distracted them until Ne'tra finished them, or the other way around. But the Jedi Masters didn't fight Ne'tra or any of the front line, they focused and force jumped to the support classes. Aruetii couldn't activate his shield in time. The Jedi Master, whichever one he was, sliced Aruetii in half at the waist. Seconds later Ne'tra reached the master and, after a several minute skirmish, proceeded to set his blades into the jedi's abdomen, let go of them, and finished by ripping off his head with his claws.

The rest of the battle is well-known enough. Most of the jedi were killed or otherwise incapacitated and the Jedi Temple was destroyed, giving the Sith the chance to hold Coruscant hostage in order to have the upper hand in negotiations with the Republic. And then the Treaty of Coruscant came about. Ne'tra was payed handsomely, for his share and Aruetii's. But Ne'tra didn't know what to do after that. He had relied on Aruetii for so many things. With only one Black Butcher it would be much harder to find work in the galaxy, especially with the often relevant language barrier. Ne'tra has held his own. But now he is looking for an organization that can fulfill everything Aruetii meant to him.

Common Conception

His size and his hue, coupled with his blood stained blades and claws, it would take a hearty soul to not be scared to its core at the first sight of Ne'tra Kar'ta. His notoriety isn't such that the average Republican citizen would recognize upon seeing him or hearing his name. But those in the right places always know who to go to if they need something killed, messy or otherwise. His "ownership" of Haar Jale gains him an abundance of respect among followers of the Republic, Sith and everyone in between. Recently, his individuality in the business of dealing in lives has given him a name, rather than devoting his life to someone else, with a life debt, he never needs someone to save his life.

Personality

One conversation with Ne'tra makes his personality discernibly clear. He's completely emotionless in almost all facets of his life. Because of this emptiness, he looks down on everyone's lack of rationality and reliance on their emotional brain, he therefore hates everything and everyone and is always only one step away from exterminating anyone. He does come to trust a few people who share his common interests, death and credits. He also likes anyone with qualities similar to Aruetii. He has a sense of humor but it's very dark comedy. He also enjoys a game of pazaak, sabacc and dejarik because a gives him a sensation comparable to killing someone, to a lesser extent.

Languages

Wookies are known to learn to understand languages very well and very easily, even though they often lack the ability to orate it.

*Shyriiwook - Ne'tra's primary language. The language that he was accustomed to from birth until his freedom. He doesn't speak it by choice, if he could he would speak Mando'a, as was common with Aruetii.
*Mando'a - Ne'tra's favorite language. Few understand it, and even fewer use it. But he always preferred to Shyriiwook and Basic.
*Galactic Basic - Ne'tra understands Basic very well. But, like most of his people, he is unable to vocalize it.
*Other Languages - Over the years Ne'tra and Aruetii came upon some free time in between and during their duties. And, not willing to splurge for a translator and always with a surplus of free time, the two took it upon themselves to learn to understand fundaments of the various languages necessary in their professions. Including Huttese, Twi'leki, Durese, Dosh and Rodese.

Abilities

Because of Ne'tra's emotionless nature, he doesn't have the common Wookie ability of "Wookie Rage". But his adrenal glands, naturally and artificially, produce so much adrenaline that in dire circumstances it grants Black Heart almost paranormal strength, speed, dexterity and aggravation tolerance.

Ship

Haar Jare has belonged to Aruetii and Ne'tra Kar'ta ever since Aruetii stole it from the Sith in 3,692 BBY. Its history and its make and model, they have never bothered to find out. Upon first entering a port Aruetii used to get harassed or turned away. But in Nar Shadda he had the ID signatures changed to that of a normal shuttle from any place in Republic space. The troop carrier section of Haar Jare was converted into a sleeping area for Aruetii and Ne'tra and storage for anything else they need. Built into the exterior of the ship are the stealth field generating units from the Czerka station on Kashyyk, while immobile and drifting in space Haar Jare can activate these generators and become virtually invisible.

Equipment

Chieftain's Two Ceremonial Ryyk Blades

These two short blades offer the satisfaction that Black Heart craves, an extremely gruesome end to those who affront him. They were the blades that he took from Chieftain Lowchit to start his new life. After so many adventures, they have developed a sort sentimental value to the brute.

Verpine Shields

Offers optimal protection to the user from energy, sonic, cold, heat and electrical based inflictions. For those battles with too many blasters and grenades for an average Wookie to endure.

Prototype CNS Strength Maximizer

A belt that amplifies power signals along the length of the central nervous system, this generator, attached to a belt, provides greater impulses to all muscles, as well as a resistance to all sorts of perturbations of Ne'tra's system.

Cybernetic Implants

Ne'tra Kar'ta and Aruetii each had several implants installed during their venture, Ne'tra more so because of his inability to wear common equipment,

  • Advance Adrenal Inlay: In a heated situation offers a bonus to Ne'tra's adrenal gland's productivity rate.

  • Navardan Regenerator: An implant that grants Ne'tra incredible healing powers, allowing wounds and injuries to heal in mere seconds instead of days or weeks.

  • Advanced Bio-Stabilizer: Prohibits mind-affecting onslaughts by Jedi or Sith and those that carry effects harmful to Ne'tra's immune system.

  • Beemon Hyper-Cardio Package: Beemon's top of the line implant usurps Ne'tra's natural reactions to stress and damage, allowing him to withstand greater amounts of punishment and exertion than normally possible. Often giving him the chance to close the gap between him and a blaster.

You can do it, Aliendria! Just try it and you'll find it will come easier than you think. It's much easier putting the ideas together when writing than just thinking it. At least, for me.

Thank you for the compliments! Embarassed
