| A Thread to discuss the Sith Inquisitor class in KOTOR; their tactics and abilities as well as their place in SW canon and suggestions as to where TOR might take the class.

| It seems that according to Wikipedia, that although the Sith Warrior was inspired by Vader, that the Inquisitor was inspired as much by Maul as Sidious! Does this mean we can hope for any acrobatic lightsaber combat? While its true that the Warriors are (and should be) the melee specialists, it'd be great if we can see some lighter (perhaps less powerful?) but faster acrobatic moves from the Inquisitors. Then again Darth Hater.com are under the impression they are inspired by Sidious and Dooku... Although they do have some interesting points to make over there: - Darth Hater's 03.12.09 Post wrote:
ABILITIES
The Sith Inquisitors ability to manipulate electricity is unmatched among force users. He is able to use this control to damage and incapacitate his enemies in a variety of ways. Although his base attack is a simple Saber Strike, his lightning-based skills set him apart from other force users.
Shock - This ability does direct damage to a target with no residual effects. There is no casting time for this ability. However, there is a short cooldown before it can be reused, preventing it from being spammed.
Lightning Hold - Similar to Mind Maze and Stun Dart, this is a crowd control (CC) ability that will last for the duration of the skill or until the target receives damage. This ability has a short cooldown.
Whirlwind - This is another single target CC ability, however it also causes damage to the target and other sources of damage will not break it. This skill has a much longer cooldown then any other ability in the demo.
Overload - The Sith Inquisitor sends out a blastwave of electricity that damages and knocks down enemies in the immediate area. This ability causes a brief stun as the target recover from being knocked to the ground.
Lightning Drain - This is a channeled attack that also works as a CC for the target of this ability. In addition to damaging the target, the skill also replenishes the characters force points.
Dark Meditation - This is the Sith Inquisitors out of combat (OOC) heal. It replenishes force bar as well as health.
Dark Gift - This is a healing ability that can be used on the Inquisitor or an ally. This ability can be used in and out of combat. Its possible that these may change / evolve as the other tree speicalisations for the class are announced but for now it seems the basic, 'core' class is very much a healer / cc role. Its also interesting to see where the Devs are taking the class as they build it: - Darth Hater's Interview with Jake Neri wrote:
While we were in San Francisco we were able to talk with many of the employees working hard on Star Wars: The Old Republic. You got to hear us talk with Jake Neri, Producer at LucasArts, on the last podcast, and here is a preview of the second half of that interview. In this brief excerpt he describes the thought process behind the Sith Inquisitor and Jedi Consular.
Jake Neri: I think you know when we looked out at all the possibilities when we talk about Star Warsthere are lots and lots of directions we could go.
At the forefront of this we know there is a hearty passion for Jedi vs. Sith and that just seems to be a religion in a way. People are lining up Im gonna be Jedi, I hate Sith or Im gonna be Sith, I hate Jedi and so that maybe informed the decision a bit.
Mostly (in) Star Wars, a lot of it is about is about lightsabers and its about really amazing force abilities and it fit with what weve been trying to do from day one, which is to bring action packed star wars combat to a MMO. We really wanted to have the opportunity to challenge ourselves to do force classes that also had lightsabers and were effective somewhat with both. It was a natural thing. There is a tremendous amount of passion for the force and the force has been working so lets go with that So that is sort of how we got at that.
There was a lot of debate on this for a long time. I'm sure over time we will talk about things that didn't make the game, but there was plenty of other classes on the table. And at the end of the day, these just made the most sense. Were looking at having a round group of classes.
We talked a lot today about being able to customize your classes in a number of different directions. When you think of Sith Inquisitor, you're thinking about how were talking about him today in the Emperor Palpatine mold, the force lightning using guy. But as time goes on, we will show you other ways to customize that class that will give you a different gameplay style. We thought as core classes the Consular and the Inquisitor made the most sense. We thought they balanced well against the other two. You can think of the Jedi Knight and the Sith Warrior as more of a melee-style Jedi, and the other two maybe more of the ranged-style Jedi. I think it made a lot of sense. Also an interesting article over at Joystiq.com goes into some interesting detail of the their 20min hands-on demo of the Inquisitor and how different it is to play vs a Warrior. It also gives confirmation of Kaleesh as an Inquisitor Companion character.

| The Inquisitor is the only other (BH is first) class that I've been looking forward to playing, although I suck at CC | |

| Like I said earlier this year they wont do 4 force classes so this discussion is a moot point as the Sith warrior and Jedi knight have already been released, Sarlac enforcer anyone? Bioware are just releasing a joke class for you all. | |

| hahahahaha yes thanks for that PJK; You're quite right of course, BW would never do 4 Force Users, that would just be crazy talk! Next you know I'll be trying to convince you two of them might be SITH! Tell you what, just pretend this is a discussion thread for a pretend class that BW would never include in one gazillion years @ Tando: I'd like to see how this class changes with the Advance Class sub-set, though I suspect one will be Heals and the other will be CC; in the same way that the Warrior has gone Tank and Melee DPS. | |

I'm not sure. They said they're using Palpatine and Maul as bases, and Palpatine certainly wasn't a healer, more of a ranged DPS guy. I'm kind of hopeful for this because I want Sharho to be the ultimate ranged DPS, who decimates the enemy before they can even reach him.

| Well we get lightning, that's a given Its the use of Dark Gift and Dark Meditation that makes me think of the heals. I suppose it all depends on which Advance Class tree gets what, but we have to wait to find out on that one | |
