| Due to the lack of MMO love I've found myself checking out Age of Conan again since the release of Rise of the Godslayer and apparntely AoC has actually now become the game it was supposed to be in the first place. I was wondering if anyone is still playing and can confirm that it's improved a fair bit? | |

| Well I'm playing Runes of Magic on and off but I'd be up for giving this a go if a few other people are; I only stopped playing because nobody I knew was on - the game itself I rather liked | |

| Never got that far Nord :S I thought it would make sense (if a few of us might play it) that we consider what to play, to make sure we have a good group dynamic. The classes: (from AoCWiki) PRIESTS Priests in Age of Conan are a step beyond the stereotype of a vulnerable healer - they can call forth the power of their deities to smite and expose their enemies whilst protecting and aiding their allies. While the priest is certainly the cornerstone of a good team-in that they provide the vital restoration skills required to keep their allies standing in battle-they are much more than just a simple healer. Priest Types:Priest of Mitra Tempest of Set Bear Shaman ROGUES Unconventional and devious fighters, characters in the Rogue Archetype are those intent on causing maximum harm to their opponents through any means necessary. These classes are not the disciplined soldiers of the warrior archetype, but cunning and often vicious opponents that their enemies would be unfortunate to meet in one of the many dark corners of Hyboria. Capable of dealing great amounts of damage to their victims, they typically wear lighter armor for the sake of mobility and secrecy. Rogues use a variety of weapon combinations based on situation and necessity, dispatching their enemies in a brutally efficient manner. Barbarian Ranger Assassin SOLDIERS Able to wear heavier armor than any other class, the warrior is able to soak up damage like no other. The heavy armor also allows the warrior to resist knock-back attacks more than any other class. Later specialization classes gain a defensive and offensive stance, the warrior is able to decide whether to hunker down when under attack, or go into a battle frenzy and significantly increase damage output while lowering defense. This class is great for anyone who is familiar with hand to hand combat. Conqueror Dark Templar Guardian MAGES The Mage archetype is based around inflicting damage. While they're all able to do magical damage, their primary method of dealing damage varies, from the Herald of Xotli doing primarily melee damage, to the Necromancer which animates the dead to provide powerful pets. Mages wear either cloth armor or silk armor, so they are unable to withstand much direct conflict, however classes like the Herald of Xotli are able to fuse with the bones of the dead, which gives them great physical strength to withstand melee damage, and deal some themselves. All the mage classes draw their powers from dark sources, whether demonic or undead. While this enables them to dish out huge amounts of damage, it comes with a price. Through spellweaving, the mages are able to bind together spells to create more powerful attacks. However, the more powerful their spell becomes, the larger is the chance of ill-effects as a result of spellweaving. Only Stygian and Khitan players can play the Mage archetype. Herald of Xotli Demonologist Necromancer As far as I'm aware, Tando's a Dark Templar. Apart from that I know nothin' | |
