Currently playing "Runes of Magic" which is an interesting little title because its basically a FREE version of WoW.
For those people who have stopped playing wow (like myself) not because they got bored of the game per se, but because they've completed all content of the game, its pretty excellent because graphically, game-play wise and (now) population its almost identical.
Of course, they have to make their money somehow and this comes about by - wait for it - Micromanagement. Surprised huh? NOT. heh, but thats not the interesting part.....all the items that can be bought (from high-end items to mounts etc) can also be earned, it just takes a fair while.
So, if you have no time but have cash, you're sorted. If you have time but are skint, you're sorted.
The client download is 4.3gig and I've only played it for a few hours but I have to say, as a (once) Hardcore WoW player, its actually pretty similar. There are some niggles, but considering its the first free game that can actually be played and enjoyed without spending a damn thing (so long as you have patience) its pretty impressive. Most of these "free to play" games don't tell you that they have a level cap, or that you can only have so many characters before you need to buy into it, this game tells you from the start that you can, but you don't have to.
They're working on the premise that considering how many gold-sellers other games have, people will pay to just get the things they want, but those who want to quest / raid / grind for things can also play it too.
It seems to be working, as you'll see from the first trailer - they've already gone over 1million subscibers since their launch in March.
I'll keep playing it for a while and let you know if its actually as good as it seems I for one will be playing it until TOR comes out, at least ^^
Currently there are 2 races (Human & Elf), 8 classes (Warrior, Scout, Rogue, Mage, Priest, Knight, Druid & Warden), Mounts, Player Housing, Crafting and Guild Housing (Castles).
A couple of vids:
INTERVIEW
GAMEPLAY (Note that the world is a bit more populated than this, this is like their version of the TOR "flythrough planet" videos)
EDIT: Oh, and here is my character - Lunathian: Elf, Lvl 11 Druid, Lvl 6 Scout
If anyone fancies joining me Im on the Siochain server, my character name is Lunathian.

Someone convinced me to pick up splinter Cell conviction and I really dislike it, I played the origonal and loved the flowing fabric physics the lights dynamics, the infrared and heat visions the guns with different attachments. And basically all of these have been removed your now running around in jeans and top with NO decent gadgets, you have instead this godawful system were you hide in shadows and the screen goes black and white and enemies are left in colour, and the only vision device you have is Sonar Goggles?!? which turn everything black and white again and highlight enimies though walls, which a: ruins any kind of suspense and b: doesnt work bescuase it goes fuzzy when you move. So basically they took all the good elements and removed them, including the mutliplayer Merc option, and it plays more like an on the rails shooter becuase there are so many enemies you have to kill them :/
I'll no longer listen to friends EVAR

I will agre to say Splinter Cell is really disappointing because it's way too short, in 10 hours you've finished the solo campaign, coop missions are not much longer. The game is also way too easy (except for a few scenes though I can think of only one)
Yes you an go stil go for the stealthy sneaky way through the mission but it makes it all much harder and you'll end up mixing the sneaky with the pew! pew! bang! bang! Animation is astonishing, sonar goggles remind GenI night vision if you ever had any which get completely crappy once you move. Would those goggles be as great as NV and IR that we had in the previous splinter cell games would have been even more easy. EMP charge (not the grenades) are awesomely useful, distance charge too.
No my problem with Splinter Cell is and will be that it's way to short and too easy just alike 80% of the video games we get nowadays.

And i totally agree with you soude, i prefer the old multiplayer modes too, Mercenary vs Spy. It used to be great playing as both, freaking out the merc or wondering if that figure you thought you saw was the spy creeping around.

Yeah its alright however for me Guild, player housing is completly pointless if I don't like or arn't interested in the game world, thats why I'm looking forward to TOR it'll have fully voiced characters and a much more intresting story. Currently I'm in Pioneer town killing Mushrooms and Wolves for tails for grind quests already lol maybe it'll get more interesting further on

Yeah, until you reach level 10, get your secondary class, have to switch it to your primary to level it at all, find yourself at level 1 again, and have to go back to Pioneer town to kill mushrooms and wolves again...
It's not a very well implemented system. It's nothing like a proper dual class system. It's more like having two completely separate characters you have to level separately which gain a few cross over benefits from each other. :/ So far it feels massively grindy, but you don't even have to bother with a secondary class, so...

Personally I really like the dual class system and I wish they'd do more games like that.
Just yesterday I had a quest which was a pain in the arris. I couldn't do it, even though it said I was the right level for it. I couldn't solo it, I suppose I should say.
I also couldn't find anyone to help me with it, so I decided to attempt something that most games would consider an exploit.
Rather than take on the lvl 12 elite with my level 12 Scout (secondary class), I simply went back to town, swapped to my lvl 20 druid (primary class) and went back and wiped the floor with him. Sure, I lost a tiny amount of xp for the kill (about 22xp), but then I went back to town, swapped back to my scout, then handed the quest in and got an xp bonus for soloing it and levelled
The xp gained from handing in the quest as my lower class more than compensated for the xp loss I got from completing the quest with my higher class.
Win.

I played the game on the hardest difficulty and I didn't it as hard as the other splinter cells used to be, limited choice in it but I enjoyed every moment as I attempted to hold as much of the splinter cell spirit in the game and therefore I went through the entire game unarmed (except for the part when he's enraged later in the game) and I can say that I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Story modes could've been better, more things to do in co-op than to kill, so I still think that Chaos Theory holds the best co-op.
More gadgets and other things could've been added in and in all honestly, they've made the game easier for a more open audience so they could earn more money instead of holding true to the fans.
I myself, am currently enjoying my freedom outside of school and enjoying a bit of just cause 2 while playing the james bond theme by the Monty Norman Orchestra.
I mean honestly, It feels like james bond to me, the explosions, the ladies, the boats, the planes and the parachuting as an explosion appears in the background. It all feels very james bond to me. Now I just wish I could get a james bond character mod..

Now see, that's a really clever exploit. I'm far too straight-laced* to have thought of that.

Probably a bit late for me to mention this (for Hare anyway) but when you hit level 10 you get a free teleport spell to a place called "Sascilia Steppes" which is another starting zone (for your secondary class) with monsters/quests ranging from level 1 - 10.
So you don't have to go back to Pioneers Colony (Or Valley of Preperation if you're an Elf).
I've only just noticed this at level 20/15 otherwise I would have pointed it out sooner
