Subject: UPDATE- 15th. January 2010 (Fan Friday) Fri Jan 15, 2010 8:17 am
Happy Friday everyone! Welcome to this week’s Fan Friday where we show off some of the awesome creations made by Star Wars: The Old Republic fans and provide updates from the Community Team. This week, we are revealing a new section in our Fan Friday called “Developer Corner” dedicated to giving you a sneak peek of some of the game content in production!
Community Creations
Fan Art
If you like Star Wars art, here are some threads you should definitely check out! Two community members, JediBattleMaster and Virama team together to create eye-popping, stylized pieces of art. JediBattleMaster receives many character sketch requests from the TOR community. You can see several of his character renditions in the Species Diversification thread. Virama shows off her coloring skills by taking JediBattleMaster’s images and coloring them with Adobe Illustrator and showcases the final pieces in her thread: I like vector + I like color stuff. Also, make sure to check out Theladril’s work-in-progress of a female Bounty Hunter and Kentoh’s latest images. Great work!
Fan Fiction
Community member spacedude recently shared a fascinating fan fiction entry with the community titled, Star Wars: Fate's Kindness. In his story, spacedude recounts the tale of a young boy and a protocol droid – sole survivors of a ship crash after a Sith attack. Spacedude says he has written 12 parts to the story, with more ideas for a prequel and sequel so stay tuned!
Developer Corner
Welcome to the new Developer Corner section of the Fan Friday news article. This area is reserved to give the community a sneak peek of some cool work-in-progress assets (concept art, animations, 3-d renders, etc.) from the development team.
This week, we’d like to share an environmental visual effect from the planet of Balmorra. This animation shows the inner base in Sobrikill Valley where the townspeople work in the military base under the watchful eyes of Imperial troopers. The Empire added the shield below to protect themselves from Republic bombardment.
This image showcases a sample of battle wounds, burns, scars, and other disfigurements from which players can choose while customizing their character’s face.
New Forum Avatars
Community members now have six new class based avatars to choose from on the forums. To update your forum avatar, log in and go to My Account, and click Avatar. We hope you enjoy!
