| Well, I'm not going to bother. Firstly, for the reasons that Lunarwolf has put forth, I don't want my game to be spoilt before I play it since I'll have found all the nooks and crannies before hand. Secondly, all this stress that everyone's going through to get only a slice of the game - I'd much prefer to wait and get the whole thing. | |

Hehehe aye I read that bit. I'm hoping that I'll get based on this statement they made alone: Will signing up today increase my chances of being selected to test Star Wars: The Old Republic? No, we will be selecting testers from the Star Wars: The Old Republic community based on various requirements such as systems specifications, age, and region. The order in which you sign up for testing has no bearing on the selection process.I'm hoping that being an old fart might give me an edge.

| Um, I might be a bit of a nOOb when it coes to Beta Testing (only done 2 beta tests, and on drastically different types of games), but if TOR is releasing the game into beta, does that mean it might well be sooner than an Oct 2010 release date? I assumed Betas only went on for a few months, basically to iron out any problems.
I appreciate their can often be both an open and closed beta for games before release, but can we assume the fact it is about to go into the Beta stage that it might be nearer than we think? (perhaps Spring / Summer 2010?)

| Spring/Summer 2010 I think was my original guess anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a release around that time. | |

We have seen many questions about the Game Testing Agreement and we want to clarify a few things.
Per the Game Testing Agreement, a user can state there is a Game Testing Program. Per the Game Testing Agreement, when someone is selected for testing, they can disclose the fact that they are a member of the Game Testing Program.
That is the extent of it and anything else would be a violation of the Game Testing Agreement. Users that are found to post or even repost confidential materials (such as invitations, Game Tester Portal, etc) will be permanently removed from the Game Testing Program and subject to discipline up to and including permanent removal from the service. This is not limited to screenshots of the game but taking "screen grabs" or sharing of confidential documentation and materials.
If you have any questions pertaining to this, ask them here. - DarthHater wrote:
- We are intrigued regarding the use of the term "permanent removal from the service" language after stating removal from the Game Testing Program itself; this may indicate that BioWare and LucasArts are taking steps to permanently ban violators from subscribing to the retail version of the game.
Further clarifications after the jump. SWTOR Link Darthater

| Apparently Beta Invites have gone out peeps: - Quote :
- Some of you may have received an email from Magid, regarding a survey concerning Star Warsâ„¢: The Old Republicâ„¢. As there has been some confusion, we wanted to let everyone know that it is indeed valid.
We are partnered with a third-party agency, Magid, to conduct some focused playtests for TOR. These are part of our ongoing Game Testing Program. As part of that testing, a number of emails were sent to registered community members like you who’d opted in for game testing.
What to do now? If you were sent an email and haven’t clicked through to the survey yet, well, go ahead and click. If you haven’t been emailed, don’t bother asking someone else to share; the surveys are individually linked to email addresses. If you are selected for testing, we’ll let you know – with an official email, this time!
Of course, I have to remind everyone that everything to do with Game Testing is bound by the Game Testing Agreement - and that means if you’re selected, apart from telling people that you’ve been selected, everything else is confidential. Not sure if thats for europe as well, so keep checking that Dev tracker.

| Looks like Beta might commence in time for xmas then! That's promising because with the usual 3 - 5 month beta test period of games it might actually arrive more or less on time! Fingers crossed and all that! | |
