Wild wallace very subtley commented on the state of the Frontpage earlier today (and broke my heart ) but after commenting on it i realised the frontpage is there to fill a gap that other guilds have that we dont and its not doing the job very well.

If you check everyone of our allies websites They have some sort of introduction to the guild and a nice place for guests to nose around.

Now the reason for the front page was to make up for the limitations of out current site by having by directing guests to the relevant info on our forums however it didn't actually do what these other guilds have.

Recently I tried to to update the frontpage and add a bit more functionality to it and make it load faster, which I acheived but basically becuase I didn't consult people and rushed into it I came out with a result not everyone was happy with (including myself despite my 'woe is me' comments lol ).

Anyway I think at this point we need to rethink the entire website and come up with a plan for what we want it to look like before release instead of just buffing different bits one at a time.

I think we should start by taking ideas from agents about what we want from our site and how it will fit with our ethos in game and then once we pin down what we want we can start working on how to do it!

Personally I'd like something similar to what HoD have done (That's why I voted their website the best out of loads after all) - I like the idea of a large centralized database-style website where the Forum is one part, not the only part.

Having a Wiki built in as well as news flashing up on a main index page is my idea of a perfect guildsite. I'd like to have something that shows you all the latest, important news and updates on the very first page you log into but allows you to delve deeper into the various parts of the site.

Oh and I think flash is the way to go (sorry PJK, don't mean more work for you )

A dedicated Guildsite is a great idea if you ask me, I know that I'm more than happy with how the Legion of the Lost site looks and frankly there's not even much content yet! For the tiny price equivalent of about £4 per month I'm able to make things just how I want it and heck, I don't even know what a quarter of all the flashy options I haven't installed yet even do! (hence, room for improvement and growth)

...Just adding to what I said earlier, if we do make it onto a whole new website I think we should set that up for the new year; have Jan 1st 2011 when we should go live with it.

Well lets address some points firstly Soude's, the fact is we're lagging behind other guilds in the way we promote ourselves on our site and i think we need to at least match some of our allies in that regard I'm glad you like the front page LW helped design it btw so give him some credit but it doesnt realy do the same job as what other guilds have and is a pain.

That could be done in wordpress which might be an option as its very customisable, I'm supposed to be working on a website for a project using it so i might be able to learn some skills alough it would need to be built from the ground up :/

Well I couldnt make a flash site thats what you want Lw with wiki info coming up automatically etc but I could make a much more effective front page that would have alot more info on for members if we wanted to stay here. as long ans most of it was flash made we could make it quite expansive like I said the entire "new frontpage" only came to 13kb so a much more info heavy flash would work

I think that would be the simplist option if you ask me they allow areas for some information and we would'nt need to do that much on it at all to get it up and running it just wouldnt be as impressive as HOD.
