Welcome back to the Homing Beacon, the official Star Wars email Newsletter
When Darth Vader moonwalks and Donald Duck sports Imperial stormtrooper armor, something special must be happening.

With a heaping helping of Disney magic, the Star Wars galaxy will descend upon Walt Disney World Resort from 8pm - 1am on Aug. 14, 2010 for an exclusive party to let fans of the sci-fi saga provide a special send-off to Star Tours before the popular attraction "powers down" in preparation for a new, 3-D Star Wars adventure that will open in 2011 at Disneyland park in California and Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida.

But before the blaster doors on the attraction close temporarily, Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park will host "Last Tour to Endor," an after-hours, private event that will feature live entertainment, Disney characters in their favorite Star Wars attire, a special Star Wars-themed fireworks spectacular, the "Death Star Disco," Jedi Training Academy, Star Wars trivia challenges and more.

And yes, Darth Vader may even moonwalk.

The Dark Lord of the Sith and his stormtroopers, known to many Disney guests for their Michael Jackson-like dance moves to songs like "Thriller" and "Beat It" during the popular "Hyperspace Hoopla" at the park's annual Star Wars Weekends event, will take the stage during the "Last Tour to Endor" for a special edition of "Hyperspace Hoopla." They will be joined by a cast of Star Wars characters moving and shaking to their favorite 1970s and 1980s dance tunes in the "Dance-Off with the Star Wars Stars."

"Dance-Off with the Star Wars Stars" premiered several years ago and has since become a hit not only for Star Wars Weekends guests each year, but also for millions more on YouTube. (See more detail about the "Dance-Off" at the "Last Tour to Endor" party below, including the scheduled cast of characters and tune selections.)

And while the Star Tours attraction serves as the galactic centerpiece of the celebration, "Last Tour to Endor" guests also will be able to enjoy other Disney's Hollywood Studios attractions during the evening, including The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, "The American Idol Experience," Toy Story Mania, the Great Movie Ride and more.

"Last Tour to Endor" tickets are $75 in advance, and will be $89 at the gate (if available). Advance tickets may be purchased online at starwarscelebration.com.

Here are some other fast facts about the "Last Tour to Endor" party*:
# This is the largest private party ever held during a Star Wars Celebration.

# Fans are encouraged to get into the Star Wars spirit and dress in their favorite Star Wars costume for the event.

# Special Star Wars-themed entertainment, created just for this party, will be showcased throughout evening.

# "Last Tour to Endor" event-exclusive memorabilia, collectibles and merchandise will be available for purchase at the party.

# Just like during Star Wars Weekends, Mickey Mouse and his pals plan to join the fun by dressing up as their favorite saga characters. Mickey Mouse becomes Jedi Mickey; Donald Duck becomes Stormtrooper Donald; Goofy does his best Darth Vader impersonation and Minnie Mouse dons a honeybun-style wig and white dress in honor of Princess Leia.

# Free roundtrip shuttles to the event from the Orange County Convention Center will be offered for Star Wars Celebration attendees.

# A salute to the Star Tours attraction will cap the evening in grand fashion.

# While the party officially begins at 8 p.m., "Last Tour to Endor" ticket holders can get a head-start on their theme park fun and enter Disney's Hollywood Studios as early as 4 p.m.

# "Hyperspace Hoopla" will feature Star Wars characters stepping outside of their galaxy and putting on a display of dancing like never before. Here's the lineup scheduled for the "Last Tour of Endor" party:
* "Grease is the word" that Chewie heard: Chewbacca, Han Solo and the Jawas put on their dancing shoes (except Chewbacca of course, who will be frantically moving his furry feet) and perform a tune from the 1978 hit movie-musical Grease. In fact, Rebel spies have provided initial intel that Chewbacca's fur will be fashioned into a 1950's pompadour hairstyle just for the occasion.

* "Nobody puts Leia in a corner": Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia will go back to the 1980s with a dance number from the box-office hit Dirty Dancing.

* "Strike a pose, there's nothing to it": Some of the most famous females from the Star Wars saga -- including Queen Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Zam Wessel and Aurra Sing -- will join forces for an ensemble dance number set to one of the biggest pop hits by the "material girl" herself, Madonna.

* King of Pop, or King of the Dark Side?: Returning by popular demand will be Darth Vader and his crew of dancing stormtroopers, cutting a rug (and no, not cutting it with a lightsaber) to a hit medley from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. At previous "Hyperspace Hooplas," the Dark Lord has been known to even don a single, sequined glove as he channels the iconic music superstar.
For tickets and more information about the "Last Tour to Endor" event, guests may visit starwarscelebration.com.

*Note: Event activities subject to change without notice.

Welcome back to the Homing Beacon, the official Star Wars email Newsletter

At long last, the biggest Star Wars party ever is here, landing at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida from August 12-15th.

If you're contemplating going, remember this date and time: August 11th, 11:59 pm (ET). That's your last chance to save money on ticket prices -- there will be tickets sold during the event, but they won't be sold at the pre-show price.

If you've been stuck upside down in a wampa cave these past few weeks, you need to be brought up to speed on the incredible events planned for this event -- events like George Lucas attending and being interviewed by Jon Stewart; sneak previews of The Clone Wars Season Three; the continuing commemoration of 30 years of The Empire Strikes Back and much, much more!

So visit this article on StarWars.com that breaks down some of the key event attractions, take a gander at the show schedule in HTML and PDF format, download the free app for your smart phone, and plan your show and schedule at the official Celebration website. Be prepared to explore an entire galaxy of Star Wars fun and excitement alongside thousands of your fellow fans. May the Force be with you, and see you in Orlando!

Welcome back to the Homing Beacon, the official Star Wars email Newsletter

Familiar faces from the live-action Saga and previous seasons of The Clone Wars join forces in the third season of The Clone Wars. In addition to exploring new battlefronts and frontiers, the series reveals insights and revelations about some of the stories we've seen so far. This week, "Supply Lines" takes the narrative back before the series' season one debut. It's an all-new facet to a fan-favorite storyline that begins streaming on StarWars.com on Monday, September 27th complete with a detailed episode guide, image gallery, concept art, and exclusive behind-the-scenes video commentary.

Click here to check it out: http://www.starwars.com/theclonewars/guide/episode303.html

Ryloth is under siege. Trapped on the surface, Jedi Master Di rallies the local forces with the help of rebel leader Cham Syndulla. Desperate to save them, Senator Bail Organa and Representative Jar Jar Binks are dispatched to the planet of Toydaria, where they must convince the King Katuunko to send aid to Ryloth -- before it's too late.

"This is one of the fun aspects of being this deep into the series," says Dave Filoni, supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. "Now that we have two seasons already under our belt, we can go back and look at some different aspects of key moments from the Clone Wars; we can jump around in the timeline. We can explore different aspects and different stories. We have a neat opportunity to blow out stories that we've seen already, and look at them from a different perspective, a different point of view -- and that's been an important aspect of Star Wars since the original trilogy."

Taking place before Yoda's fateful meeting with King Katuunko on the moon of Rugosa -- chronicled in the series premiere episode, "Ambush" -- "Supply Lines" also explores the origins of the Ryloth occupation and the subjugation of the Twi'lek people occupation, explored in a three-episode arc in the first season.

"This conflict is vast, to say the least," says Filoni. "It's a big galaxy, and there's a lot going on at all times. Even two seasons in, we're only seeing a fraction of the war -- key moments that are really focused on the primary heroes from the films. But those moments are framed by heroism and villainy, too, just as there are important events happening concurrently with the key scenes we've explored. We've got 22 minutes per episode and 22 episodes per season, and we're still only scratching the surface of the Clone Wars."

Serving to support existing stories and to build on the overall mythology of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, "Supply Lines" promises its own action and surprises. Featuring the return of some fan-favorite characters (and perhaps a certain starship) from the live-action films, the episode also introduces some brand new characters.

"We're going to meet Jedi Master Di," says Filoni. "I like him a lot; he's cool and I'd like to be able to do more with him. But you should remember that this is a prequel, and that it takes place before the episodes we've seen already. There may be a reason we haven't seen him after the events of this episode. Here's a hint: Star Wars characters have a history of suggestive names. Greedo was a greedy bounty hunter. Lobot's a guy with a computer implanted in his brain, like a lobotomy. General Grievous and Darth Maul are both intent on causing pain and suffering. Han Solo's a loner. So I'm just saying that maybe Jedi Master Di should watch his back."

LucasArts is happy to announce that the demo for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II will be arriving at both the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network on Tuesday, October 12th.

The level focuses on the very beginning of the game, which takes in a secret cloning facility on the planet of Kamino. Starkiller, told by Vader he is no more than a clone, becomes tormented by the memories of his past and escapes into the rain-soaked planet with Vader not far behind.

Unleash the power of dual lightsabers, over-top Force powers including the new Jedi mind trick, and get a first taste on a journey that will take Starkiller across the galaxy in search of the truth behind his past, as well as the woman he cannot forget.

Welcome back to the Homing Beacon, the official Star Wars email Newsletter

In the middle of a routine shopping trip on Coruscant, C-3PO is abducted by bounty hunter Cad Bane. Soon, both Threepio and his astromech counterpart R2-D2 find themselves pawns in Bane's plan to free Ziro the Hutt from a heavily guarded prison in the heart of the Republic. The hapless droids are once again integral in events that threaten to unravel the future of the galaxy in "Evil Plans" -- an all-new episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which begins streaming on StarWars.com on Monday, November 8th.

Reprising his role from all six live-action Star Wars films and countless ancillary intergalactic appearances over the past three decades, Anthony Daniels returns to voice the prim and proper protocol droid for this special episode of The Clone Wars. Thrilled at the rare chance to explore Threepio's expertise in etiquette, Daniels himself relished the opportunity to exercise the fan-favorite character's strengths in ways that haven't yet been seen on screen.

"Threepio's whole life is focused on how to avoid conflict, and the basic premise is that he's always out of place. But he doesn't have to be the fall guy all the time," says Daniels. "For once, we see him functioning as he was made, according to his programming. It's a more domesticated storyline, without the shoot-em-up aspects of the Saga. His abilities are cerebral, not physical -- and he finally gets to use his expertise in protocol and etiquette. In a way, he's more relaxed than we've ever seen him. But of course nothing in party-planning ever goes exactly as planned."

Having spent so much time ensconced in Threepio's golden trappings for the big screen, live-action adventures, Daniels enjoys the opportunity to bring the character to life through vocalization alone. Less physically strenuous than on-camera appearances, voice work nonetheless requires a keen attention to detail, as well as an understanding of what makes the character tick.

"There are all sorts of funny little technical issues with keeping him human-like without human sounds. He doesn't breathe; I have to be careful not to breathe," says Daniels. "The aim is to keep him very much as he is in the movies. Some of it has become second nature; I've been pleased to realize that I can still create the voice and match the original character. It's the genuine article. And I really do enjoy the animation. It's a mutual support society; they do picture to voice, so it's a physical representation based around my vocal performance. In the series, Threepio is as gravity-forced as always. It reminds you that he can be quite clumsy. I think The Clone Wars is animated in a way that is quite accessible -- not just the wide-eyed, simple, Saturday morning fare. It makes you realize you are watching Star Wars."

Though the episode is quintessentially Star Wars, Daniels notes that the droids tend to illustrate some of the lighter aspects of the space saga. Focusing on dialogue rather than danger, they represent the fun of the series, without relying so heavily on galaxy-shattering stakes.

"There are sides of Star Wars that can be quite humorous -- subtle and more gentle. I think that's why people enjoy the relationship between Artoo and Threepio," he says. "You don't expect them to exhibit these human qualities, and it's really quite charming. For all the battles, there's a benignity that gives [Star Wars] the winner's cup; it's an honorable enterprise, because there's more to it than blasters and political concerns. It's important to realize that not everything has to focus on the dark side. Life goes on, even when there's a war going on. But Threepio would say that, wouldn't he?"

Never said I was impressed myself... Clone Wars is so marketing. It's like they chose from polls of fan's favourite characters (which is supect to be very true) to put maul in the Season 3. Quite honestly, i've stopped after season 1. Clone Wars are so depressing to me.

Yeah I felt like that with jango fetts inclusion in 2, at first I loved the idea considering how cool Boba was but he was underused as a character (although cool taking on obi wan) and the killed off unceromonally and then being decultified by being used as every clone trooper in the movies! I meean if you tried harder I'm not sure you could attempt to kill a cult icon better lol

Have to disagree with you there I think, Clone Wars is incredible. The first season was so-so but season 2 onwards has been great. By the way that dude isn't Darth Maul it's one of his relations called Savage Opress.
