| Interesting. Great find, Nord. So it looks like they'll probably be launching mass Beta a month before release as 'try before you buy'. Or rather a system test to see if the infrastructure holds. Not the idea, but they think they know the landscape of modern Beta testing so hey-ho. That it'll be many, many months away is clear. SWTOR site is funny. Loads of muppets ever so desperately needing a beta key . I wonder how they'll select the worthy? |

| Good find Nord. Hmmm...this bit just says to me that this games is gonna be an @% to get into for Beta: - Quote :
- Ten Ton Hammer: When is it appropriate to let a lot of gamers see your upcoming game? Does it hurt a company to never have a truly public display before a game launches?
Vogel: We feel that limiting the [number of] beta testers is a good thing. We get better data with fewer, more dedicated players and we are able to focus test specific areas of the game. You can’t do that with tens of thousands of players. It is a coordination issue. It is good, however, to allow enough players into the game to make sure it can handle the load under stress. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

| Beta Testing is also helpful to get a last-minute feedback from hardcore fans as how the game might be improved to attract more players. |

- We are excited to announce that we are now collecting information for those interested in applying for the opportunity to test Star Wars: The Old Republic. Our goal is to get feedback to help us make the best game that we can.
We will be selecting testers from the Star Wars: The Old Republic community based on various requirements such as systems specifications, age, and region. Because the testing program requires feedback from within the community, you must have an active Star Wars: The Old Republic (“TOR”) community account to participate (no banned accounts). The testing is limited to members who are 18 years of age or older and requires the acceptance of the Game Testing Agreement included in the TOR community sign-up process. Users that meet the requirements of the test and are selected for inclusion in the test program will be contacted via email (so make sure your email address is up to date!).
Game testing for Star Wars: The Old Republic will be rolled out in several phases over an extended period of time. These test phases will begin with smaller, tightly focused test groups, and later tests will expand.
Want to get your name on the list of potential testers? First, make sure you are a registered member of the Star Wars: The Old Republic community. If you’re not already a member, click here to become one today! Be sure to check the box to indicate you are interested in becoming a tester. If you’re already a member, go to the Game Testing Portal to begin the sign up process.
Please keep in mind that there are no guarantees that you will be selected once you have completed the sign up process. For more information about testing Star Wars: The Old Republic, take time to read the Game Testing FAQ.
We look forward to your help in making Star Wars: The Old Republic a success! The SWTOR.com is down in several hours

| Yup saw that earlier. I couldn't even load the site about 2 hours ago either. There must be thousands of people applying. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if there's any changes. | |

| Well at this rate I don't think anyone will be! Sites still down *grumble*. Aye I do know what you're saying L-Dubz but it'll prolly still have bugs when the game is released. I've yet to play an MMO that isn't bug-ridden when it first goes live. | |

| I can't see myself going for the Beta, personally. I prefer to wait for the extra layers of polish and the tweaks tweaked before playing. I'm a very demanding gamer and if something isn't as good as it could or (more importantly) should be, then I'm very harsh with second chances. Almost finished strikes me as almost immoral. |

| I got the scan to work eventually, although I had about 50 emails in my account. I think most of my problems were to do with my anti-virus being a little too protective!! Oh and deleting your cookies helps to get past the first part.
I personally enjoy testing it makes me feel in some sort of way that I helped contribute, also I'm very methodical so it sort of fits with my personality. At least open beta isn't as full on as actual QA, I did that for work experience, it wasn't all that exciting. |

| I've registered as well, hoping for a slightly better chance to be accepted into beta as Slovakia is small country and I think they would like to have players from all over the world | |
